HOW TO DO AN ADVANCED SEARCH.
Mon Jul 08, 2013 3:56 pm by Admin
For the benefit of 944Hybrids users there are two search functions available for you to use.
The purpose of this sticky is to explain the "Advanced Search" function because it is much more powerful and is the best choice when researching information.
When you log on to the site a list of options is shown in a line at the top of the page. One option is labelled "Search", use this option (NOT the search box lower down on the right).
After you click on the upper search option, a drop down box appears. At the bottom of this box is a radio button marked "Advanced …

Congrats on getting started, you've got a long road ahead of you! (It will be worth it in the end though)

If Eric's doing it, it won't be that long of a road, you're in good hands.

Re: It begins....
Yeah, me too! That's why I sent it to Eric. He has the benefit of having done this before, having all the necessary parts and tools and being able to work on it full time.
Well worth it in my mind, I just want to be able to enjoy the car!

Is your ride gonna be the mock-up for the TPC LSx-944 X-member?

He's already made one and it's been running around for a bit, I imagine my car will be the beta tester so to speak.

Re: It begins....
The Doc's car will be the first cross member That we won't have to worry about the set back plates and old school motor mounts. No more AC clearance issues either. And as of just a few minutes ago , his will be installed with a new air pump friendly TPC design of headers too......
Hope you don't mind, The minor changes, they are all for the best. The motor will be in house as of tomorrow around lunch time and We'll order up the Bell housing and Cam for it.....

WHOA, WHOA, WHOA!! Back up the bus!! Eric, are you saying that you have a set of headers that have provision for the airpump lines? I assume that they have the bungs for O2's also. Maybe I could squeak these past the CA smog inspectors
More details PLEASE!
Also, just getting the "new" passenger side setback plate made in my shop. Do you still want one to try out for me? I assume you will still make the old style uprights for those with shallower pockets?

Bluemach1: If it doesn't have a CARB EO # it's useless in California.

Re: It begins....
I hear you Dawgz. What I am doing is the real CA conversion but once I get past the BAR I have a far easier time greasing a tester. I just need my door sill sticker!! Know what I mean? I think as long as I can pass functional inspection and a sniffer later on I could make it happen.
PS: Sorry for the thread hijack DOC.

Re: It begins....
No worries. Passing smog is a PITA. Technically I need the air pump on my car to get past the inspectors. In practice the car will probably never need to go to referee as I just passed and don't need to go in for another 2 years and will most likely be able to "rapid pass" via the unmanned mobile stations...
I'm putting it in just in case I do need to head to the referee in the future...
I'll call ya to talk about the headers, I'm intrigued...

Re: It begins....
No they won't have CARB EO # , but they will have the bungs for the air tubes. The first set will be here by Monday, Hopefully!
A far as the set back plat go, I'll make your up right changes if you need me to, but I am trying to get away from those all together. It's just on more thing to have made (and have to charge for) and that could lead to shipping problems...............
No more high jacking this thread, dang it!

Re: It begins....
More progress made. Motor has been yanked out of the donor car and is on an engine stand getting cleaned up. A mild cam will get installed. All aluminum LS1 V8 goodness!
My car is getting stripped, motor should be coming out of it today.

Re: It begins....
Which radiator are you going to utilize? Too bad the smog nazi's have you bowing to the air pump. Check your B-joints while you have it apart. Looks nice.

Re: It begins....
We will be using the stock 951 radiator with stock fans, as it seems to work well in this 105 degree weather we are having right now, and that's with the AC blowing...............
Ball joints look OK.

Re: It begins....
Yeah, it'd be easier if I didn't have to keep the air pump. There is a chance that the car will never have to see the smog referee, as they have mobile "fast pass" stations that the car can probably pass under.
However, if it ever needed to go to the real station, it'd have to pass the referee and it'd fail instantly without the smog pump.

Re: It begins....
doesn't work like that here. The smog stations are state run & my converted car will get shuttled over to the smog referee before they will run it.

Re: It begins....
Where are you going to put the air pump? I've seen the air pump placed where the accumulater is located. Not sure where the accumulator got moved to.
Here is an example:

Re: It begins....
That's pretty much where I was thinking. The pump is electric, so we can mount it where ever it makes sense...
