For the benefit of 944Hybrids users there are two search functions available for you to use.
The purpose of this sticky is to explain the "Advanced Search" function because it is much more powerful and is the best choice when researching information.
When you log on to the site a list of options is shown in a line at the top of the page. One option is labelled "Search", use this option (NOT the search box lower down on the right).
After you click on the upper search option, a drop down box appears. At the bottom of this box is a radio button marked "Advanced …

And it begins....Tim's 86 951 LS1 swap
So, not a whole lot going on right now. Removed engine and sourced an LS1 (98 Camaro). Now it's parts acquisition time! My goal is to just make a fun street car. I already have a track car, so no need for another.
I'm sure I'll be posting a ton of questions here. I've already been bugging Josh (DocWyte) about his swap since he's just down the road a bit.
If this goes well, I'll probably swap one into my E36 BMW too.
Anyway, here are a few pics to show at least a little progress!

just FYI the 98 LS1 blocks had a problem with rod bolt failures leading to spun/thrown rods. Mine lasted all of 20 minutes on the track before throwing 2 rods and seizing the motor. Before you go any further I would highly recommend 1)new Katech or ARP rod bolts 2)high volume melling oil pump 3)drilling your lifter buckets 4)new LS2 timing chain. These 4 mods greatly enhance the reliability of the 98 motor

Thanks for the heads-up!
Already ordered 1 and 4. Maybe 2 and 3 to come.
This car won't see any track action, though. Just the occasional autocross.

Alrighty, lots of parts purchasing progress made!
-LS6 manifold with ported TB (Thanks, Josh!)
-Test pipes and cat pipes (Thanks again, Josh)
-Oil pan (TPC...Thanks, Eric!)
-Motor mounts (TPC...Thanks, Eric!)
-VSS kit (TPC...Thanks, Eric!)
-Crossmember spacers (TPC...Thanks, Eric!)
-Pilot bearing and adapter (TPC...Thanks, Eric!)
-Spec Stage 2 clutch and flywheel (OEM Part Haus)
-QuickTime Inc RM-6033 bellhousing (OEM Part Haus)
I need to figure out my brake booster setup, but other than that, I think I'll be ready to start playing.
Am I forgetting anything?

Using a new stock radiator. I believe I'm going with the E32 booster also.
Now I just need to figure out the fuel filter issue.

How about your oil system? Eric's pan has -10AN in/out fittings and you'll need to figure out a remote oil filter and a cooler.

I forgot about that. I believe that comes free with the purchase of LS6 intake, TB and exhaust.....right?
