HOW TO DO AN ADVANCED SEARCH.

Mon Jul 08, 2013 3:56 pm by Admin

For the benefit of 944Hybrids users there are two search functions available for you to use.
The purpose of this sticky is to explain the "Advanced Search" function because it is much more powerful and is the best choice when researching information.

When you log on to the site a list of options is shown in a line at the top of the page. One option is labelled "Search", use this option (NOT the search box lower down on the right).

After you click on the upper search option, a drop down box appears. At the bottom of this box is a radio button marked "Advanced …

C5 BH Adapter Empty C5 plate

Post  xschop Wed Jun 10, 2009 10:39 am

When you machine the TO bearing side for the C5/S10 TO bearing, leave 1/2" billet surrounding the torque tube bolts, this increases it's strength 2-fold.......A design flaw in the RH plate that can cause flex stress if you use high strength pressure plates.

Trim your C5 TO bearing accordingly....

C5 BH Adapter Empty Compatibility

Post  xschop Wed Jun 10, 2009 2:34 pm

From some of the questions I have been asked, I don't think that most people understood that this plate design that originated from gt1scca is a Hands-down unversal swap adapter plate (old schol SBC/LT/LS/ and IRON BLOCK 4.8/5.3/6.0) because of it's .6" depth that was changed. The pilot bearing bushing depth is the difference between installing an SBC/LT1 and if you want, later rip it out and and stick in the LS/4.8/5.3/6.0 blocks just by switching Pilot adapters.

is this what I need?
for xschop/gregs adapter? will it work on an LTX as well as an LSX block? does it make a difference on the pressure plate?

Yes, the T/O bearing will work. Yes, it makes a difference on the PP. The LSX PP is metric (bolt pattern). With the 2-piece C5 BH, an 11-12" clutch will work with the LT...
but the clutch assembly must be SBC style.

"On the Gen I, the crankshaft flange (i.e. flywheel mounting surface) is .740” past the BH mounting surface on the block. The Gen III comes in at .340”, a difference of .400”. Now there are three small-block crankshaft flange bolt patterns; the Gen I (’55-’86, two-piece rear seal) @ 3.58” dia. / the Gen I (’87-’96, one-piece rear seal) @ 3.00”, and the Gen III (LS / one-piece seal) @ 3.11” dia. (with metric threads). No interchange there...BUT, McLeod sells a “conversion” flywheel for using Gen I components with the LS, part #460535 available from Summit Racing....NOTE: Only the McLeod flywheel is a true “conversion-ready” item, utilizing a bronze pilot bushing. If using the factory GM LS1 flywheel, it will need to be re-drilled and counterbored, and a 1” pilot adapter must be used."
