HOW TO DO AN ADVANCED SEARCH.
Mon Jul 08, 2013 3:56 pm by Admin
For the benefit of 944Hybrids users there are two search functions available for you to use.
The purpose of this sticky is to explain the "Advanced Search" function because it is much more powerful and is the best choice when researching information.
When you log on to the site a list of options is shown in a line at the top of the page. One option is labelled "Search", use this option (NOT the search box lower down on the right).
After you click on the upper search option, a drop down box appears. At the bottom of this box is a radio button marked "Advanced …

Give us a day or to and we should be able to get this stuff up and running just fine.

Welcome Tim! I have tech drawings that I'll post shortly. [I'm still figuring out the forum layout, etc.] In my defense, I thought "sharing information" was what PHB was all about? Whether it's RH or Tony G, the new admin is just being a prick...Eh, I guess if I piss off 1 of 738 members, I must be doing something constructive, right?

I alerted xschop to the new forum.
The brake adapters for the Lexus setup are kind of his baby. I'm sure he'll post anything you want.

Re: Adapter Diagrams
Just jumped on to the new board. I've sent the Admin here a PM with a couple of suggestions. We should make an effort to copy as much content from PH as possible before it's wiped out/censored, including WIKI material (which I'm working on now).

Buy them from Xschop unless you can convince him to give you a drawing.

In his first post of "LS430 Big Brake Swap" back in 2009 it looks like the diagrams were posted then.
Only one pic remains there. That's the hub cantering ring, the other two look to have been removed.
Just wondering if anyone here has those diagrams to share?
Cheers,
Frank

Re: Adapter Diagrams
I took down a couple old diagrams cause someone from Renny started copying my work and doing shoddy work no less. People are strange, one guy even posted to his website all the pics of the custom parts that were built for Dinsdale's one-off 928 6-speed as if he did them and is still scamming people.
The C5 bellhousing adapter diagram was a GREG SLOAN drawing and the most critical dimension is WRONG along with other drawings he posted that had issues....Don't get Sloaned.
I'll find a drawing of the 87-up NA hub/spindle, Lexus LS430 caliper, and 928 GTS rotor adapter drawing. Since I'm not making centering rings any more for the Cayenne rotors, all you'll need to do is take the drawing and $150 to a qualified machinist and you'll have 322mm x 32mm rotors and Lex 4-pots.

Adapters
Thanks for the info.
Unfortunately, I've already purchased the LS430 calipers and the boxster S rotors, and it's costing a fortune to freight them to Australia! So I'm going to have to follow down the Boxster road.
Do you still have a dia for those adapters?
I've already purchased the material to make the C5 bellhousing adapter, so which dimension is not right? The bellhousing should turn up some time this month so I suppose I can just measure it up from that.
In the scheme of things, not that many Porsches came to Australia compared to the US. As such, it's not that easy or cheap to find a 87 and up spindle/hub.
The good part is, I'm the qualified machinist that you spoke of. If the dimensions are on, I'm good for it.
Cheers,
Frank

Nope, that's a diagram for 928 rotors.Wild Bill wrote:looks like he has pics and diagrams back on this thread.

The original post, I believe, was in relation to Boxster S rotors.
I still don't know what's wrong with Greg Sloan's C5 Bellhousing to Torque tube adapter.

Re: Adapter Diagrams
I checked what I have programmed into my Hurco CNC at 12.37mm for the shaft concentric in relation to the dowel pin centerline. I measured 4 different C5 TT's at the time and took the avg., of which one was 12.25mm
I'll try to find the Boxster S rotor adapter diagram at the shop as I've lost the zip drive

My bell housing has not arrived yet, so when it does I'll measure it up and machine my adapter to suit.
TIA, any help greatly appreciated.

Frank

Re: Adapter Diagrams
I updated the Boxster-S/ LS430 caliper drawing to maximize strength. I will no longer be making these, but am glad to share the diagram.....

The 0.24" (EARLY car) dim. can be used on early spindles/hubs if you want to trim your early hubs (non-turbo) to mount the Boxster-S rotor directly over the early hub and use the LS430 calipers...

Rob,
Do I need to update my adapters as I see you have modified your design?
Thanks,
Mike

Re: Adapter Diagrams
No, the original adapter had plenty of material around the caliper bolt threading/in-step. Also the 1.417" dimension can be made 1.50" for less machine operations. A cold-rolled billet 1.5 x 1.5 stock can be used as well
