HOW TO DO AN ADVANCED SEARCH.
Mon Jul 08, 2013 8:56 pm by Admin
For the benefit of 944Hybrids users there are two search functions available for you to use.
The purpose of this sticky is to explain the "Advanced Search" function because it is much more powerful and is the best choice when researching information.
When you log on to the site a list of options is shown in a line at the top of the page. One option is labelled "Search", use this option (NOT the search box lower down on the right).
After you click on the upper search option, a drop down box appears. At the bottom of this box is a radio button marked "Advanced …

Would this radiator work?

It also has a trans cooler. Can I use that as an oil cooler? Or maybe a power steering cooler? I'm guessing I'd want a two row for road racing correct? Also, I'd have to add a bung for the fan switch, and weld the filler cap shut. Am I missing anything?

Use the GM fan control and you will not need to weld a bung in for the fan switch

Ah, I didn't think of that. I can't remember if its wired that way or not. It's been a year since I took it apart... I'll check tomorrow.

Re: Would this radiator work?
It would fit, Would it "WORK" that would need to been determined....Does not look to have any more core than a factory turbo radiator...
Re: Would this radiator work?
I'm worried that the turbo radiator wont pull enough air through it with a condenser in the way for track days. Do you have a suggestion? Id probably use the 3.8 Taurus fan with whatever I get. They seem to pull the most air. I'd ;ike to find something under $400.00 if that is possible. What are the biggest exterior dimensions we have to work with?

For that price you can get a good Griffin radiator that is a closer fit.

Depends how hot it gets near you. The Turbo radiator was working pretty well for me, it would get hot, but no hotter than the CMC racecars. It also recovered very quickly.
I have the Ron Davis radiator now, it fits better as far as hose routing goes, takes longer to get hot, is a little cooler than the turbo radiator but takes longer for it to recover.

I got a big fancy Wizard radiator. Doesn't cool any better than the turbo rad did.

Re: Would this radiator work?
So maybe just use the 2 row Griffin radiator with the Taurus fans and make sure it gets tons of air huh? I keep seeing drag race in the descriptions for them so it makes me think it may not work well for Road racing. LOL

I cut open that license plate area on my 951 bumper. Between that and not running the front license plate at the track it's worth almost 20 degrees.

The griffin rad #1-26201-x fits as well as the summit rad - #SUM-380645
I used the summit rad and it fits nicely with ford contour / mercury cougar v6 fans.

Re: Would this radiator work?
The one you are using is a single row, and I don't think that will work well for the track. I think I am going to go with either the Griffin 1-85201-H or the Griffin 1-26201-D... And then use the Ford Taurus fans...
The H model has two rows of 1.5 inch tubing and the D has 2 rows of 1 inch tubing but it has a trans cooler in it so griffin thinks it will cool better. Does that make sense? The D is also cheaper by 200.00, but I would have to have the filler cap welded shut.

Re: Would this radiator work?
So I pulled the trigger on the Griffin Aluminum Circle Track Radiators 1-85201-H

I also found out something interesting. Apparently the early 90's Volvo V70 or S70 has a fan just like the ford fan that also comes with or can be gotten with a controller from the factory. here is the link to the forum and post that I found it on. There is also a youtube video.
