HOW TO DO AN ADVANCED SEARCH.

Mon Jul 08, 2013 3:56 pm by Admin

For the benefit of 944Hybrids users there are two search functions available for you to use.
The purpose of this sticky is to explain the "Advanced Search" function because it is much more powerful and is the best choice when researching information.

When you log on to the site a list of options is shown in a line at the top of the page. One option is labelled "Search", use this option (NOT the search box lower down on the right).

After you click on the upper search option, a drop down box appears. At the bottom of this box is a radio button marked "Advanced …

I found this diagram showing how to hook up your fan relays on a GM car so that 1 fan comes on when the low speed is triggered and when the high speed is triggered both fans run at once. Here it is... This is what I'm finishing up this weekend... I'm getting close!

High and low speed fan relays Empty Re: High and low speed fan relays

K, I'm confused about the whole fan thing. I'm running two NA fans. I have them wired into ONLY two relays, each wired to PCM high and low outputs. I'm begrudgingly starting to understand that I need three relays-

BUT:
At the moment, neither fan turns on, even after getting up to temp.

So my questions is, with my current two relays, would a fan ever turn on at all? Or would my two relay approach mean that neither fan would EVER turn on?

And for a quick fix until I can wire up a third relay, are there reasons not to use one of those dual fan controllers w/a temp probe you stick in the radiator fin?

I didn't end up using that diagram, I used three relays to control the fans.

Did you check if you're getting a ground signal on the wire from the ECU when the engine is at temp?

If you take the wires off pin 85 and apply a known good ground to that pin, does the fan turn on?

This uses a 5 terminal relay for the "ON" on the right in this schematic. When the HIGH speed kicks in, it removes power from the first relay. This prevents power from being applied to both wires of the fan at the same time.
