HOW TO DO AN ADVANCED SEARCH.
Mon Jul 08, 2013 3:56 pm by Admin
For the benefit of 944Hybrids users there are two search functions available for you to use.
The purpose of this sticky is to explain the "Advanced Search" function because it is much more powerful and is the best choice when researching information.
When you log on to the site a list of options is shown in a line at the top of the page. One option is labelled "Search", use this option (NOT the search box lower down on the right).
After you click on the upper search option, a drop down box appears. At the bottom of this box is a radio button marked "Advanced …

Crossmember spacer thickeness
I have an early car that I swapped a few years ago and I made everything myself. When I did it I put a cowl induction hood scoop on it, well I’d like to go back to a stock hood. I didn’t space the crossmember when swapping it, but after measuring I believe a 3/4 or 1” spacer would give me enough room to go to a stock hood.
My question is, has anyone ran 1” spacers? I will be making them out of steel, or even stainless steel. I have adjustable coils so I can make the ride height correct.
Thanks for any help!

Re: Crossmember spacer thickeness
The kits come with 1/2" spacers. I've used 3/4", but I wouldn't go more than 3/4" myself.

Ok that’s what I’ll go with, 3/4”. There’s really
Nothing special about them is there? They are just flat plates that go below the crossmember and control arms?
Did you need to extend your steering shaft? That will be another concern of mine, because I made my own headers. So hopefully I want have clearance issues.
Thanks for the reply!

They are just pieces of aluminum plate. Steering shaft will still work. Just use smaller diameter pinch bolts.

Older post but I made 1" spacers for my crossmember and caster blocks on my V6 swap. My engine is a 60* angle so it is naturally taller than a 90* V8.

tonyorlo, Just a friendly reminder that you will need longer chassis mounting bolts for the thicker spacers. This is one area for sure that you do not want to compromise.
Below is a link to the post where I determined the bolt length I needed.

Re: Crossmember spacer thickeness
Thanks for the replies guys. I’ve put it on the back burner because of some other projects. Being that I made my mounts I may go with 1” just to be on the safe side. I will make them from stainless.
I would like to use stainless mounting bolts but it’s probably something that should be grade 8.
