HOW TO DO AN ADVANCED SEARCH.

For the benefit of 944Hybrids users there are two search functions available for you to use.
The purpose of this sticky is to explain the "Advanced Search" function because it is much more powerful and is the best choice when researching information.

When you log on to the site a list of options is shown in a line at the top of the page. One option is labelled "Search", use this option (NOT the search box lower down on the right).

After you click on the upper search option, a drop down box appears. At the bottom of this box is a radio button marked "Advanced …

Transaxle rebuild Empty Transaxle rebuild

Post  yamamtx Tue Jul 17, 2018 8:55 pm

Hello guys I am looking for info on rebuilding my transaxle. I heard it can be a big task but I cant seem to find much info on it. I have done everything to this point on my swap myself so I was hoping I could tackle this also. I have a grind between first and second that makes it hard to do any harder acceleration. Can someone supply the info needed to do this and where I can get the tools also?

If for some reason I decide to hire it out where is a good place to go for the money?

Thanks

Josh

Where can you find those special tools? I haven't seen anyone say where they have gotten them.

Thanks

yea "special tools" lol. every vehicle needs special tools to work on, but in most cases i find i can work my way around that. the only "special tool" i found i needed was to hold the main shaft from turning when i removed the 5th gear bolt, but i was able to use a driveshaft coupler and my bench vise to get the job done. past that, the most oddball tool you need is a triple square socket for the 5th gear bolt, and thats not really oddball.

searching on google i was able to find a factory service manual for the transaxle, didnt even take me very long.

I did the turbo trans for a while and it worked well at 400whp. Last winter I built the engine to 515 whp and mounted C5 corvette running gear. That was one heck of a project!!!
