For the benefit of 944Hybrids users there are two search functions available for you to use.
The purpose of this sticky is to explain the "Advanced Search" function because it is much more powerful and is the best choice when researching information.
When you log on to the site a list of options is shown in a line at the top of the page. One option is labelled "Search", use this option (NOT the search box lower down on the right).
After you click on the upper search option, a drop down box appears. At the bottom of this box is a radio button marked "Advanced …

Someone just told me I can't do an LS1 swap on an 89 2.7litre
Can anyone confirm this? I've been reading non-stop and have not once come across this. Two days ago I bought an 89 2.7 for the purpose of putting an ls1 into it. I'm picking up my ls1 on friday. If it can't be done or is more complicated, can anyone tell me the variation of the 2.5 vs 2.7, and why?

There is no difference. The person does not know what they are talking about. People have done this conversion on early, late model and 968s.

That's what I thought, I just suddenly got worried there was some rediculious change that made it, well, not impossible, but significantly more difficult, such as change in torque tube so that the c5 bell housing to torque tube adapter did not fit. That's the most difficult part I can think of off the top of my head.

FYI the 2.7l motor is somewhat more valuable than the 2.5l because many of the 2.7l parts are used when making 2.9/3.0l turbo motors.

So would my 2.7 be worth more in pieces or as a whole? Where would be the best place to sell it?

The cylinder head is worth the most money off the engine. Back in the day (maybe 4-5 years ago) they used to sell for easily $900+. Now days though, much less.. may want to verify but i think the last few i saw sold for around $4-500 (this was within the last 1-2 years). Best place is to post it up on Rennlist in the turbo forum.
