HOW TO DO AN ADVANCED SEARCH.
Mon Jul 08, 2013 3:56 pm by Admin
For the benefit of 944Hybrids users there are two search functions available for you to use.
The purpose of this sticky is to explain the "Advanced Search" function because it is much more powerful and is the best choice when researching information.
When you log on to the site a list of options is shown in a line at the top of the page. One option is labelled "Search", use this option (NOT the search box lower down on the right).
After you click on the upper search option, a drop down box appears. At the bottom of this box is a radio button marked "Advanced …

it begins
Well today was a good day, the floor section and rear back seat area removed. I found a C6 six speed withh 11k on it complete with carrier and torque tube. ( in Canada) Hopefully will be shipped in the next few days. I will post photos on friday of the back section. tHIS IS GOING TO BE I THINK A VERY GOOD SWAP. Seats still fit really well. I will start to mock up cage and cross supports. Should be able to build and slide in to the car. Will keep you all posted.

Another good day
Hello, had another good day in the garage. Today i did the mock up roll hoop and bottom bracing to allow the C6. I made a form fitting wood template of the structure. I will use 1.5"x 1/8 " square tube for the cross section support and 1.5" x.95 roll for the hoop. I incorperated the structure right in to the factory cross member, with a new 13" opening, will be very strong. I ran the back brace down to the shock tower location, for now a 4 point will do, but will be 6 point at the end, for now the trany area is more important. As i thought i can build the structure out of the car and it fits in very nice. Did i mention you can keep the interior in when completed. I have taken a bunch of photos, i will down load on the weekend and post. U will see in the pics that the back floor area will come out flat all the way to the cage area.Should allow for real nice cargo area.(golf clubs). I think this design will be a very nice swap option. There may be enough area left on both sides of the trany, and in front of the axles to allow a couple of aluminum fuel cells linked, it would place more weight in the middle of the car, and lower to the ground.Seats seem to fit well (pics).I think i will run the sq tube at the hump down to the floor pan and back to the rocker area, to allow a point of mount for the split torsion tube, everything should fit very nice. I cant wait for the trans to arrive, I will have the hoop bent this coming week, sq tube in stock.Next on the menu, is to strip down the torsion unit and start the cutting, HOPING to remove 12" out of the center. trans is about 10" at that point. Will see.Keep you posted. Please feel free to share your thoughts on the structure, or anything else. QUESTION what is the gap (measurement) from the top of the porche TT to the underside of the tunnel? AGAIN THANKS to everyone that has supplied info/photos to allow this process to happen.

Great work. You should be able to slide that TT right back and get to the clutch easier.

Ty for the praises, but there are a bunch of individuals on this form that contributed a lot of info to allow this process. With out there help this would not be possiable. The torsion tube looks as it will be a simple operation to cut and splice,I'm thinking a nice mandrel bent 3" tube, gussetted on the sides for strenght and will also allow a fastening point in the center on a bushing ( just to make sure) but i want to wait for the trans, so i can sit it in place and do the final measure up. I plan to add a cross tube above the floor line to allow a point to fasten a proper harness. There will be a tube placed at the base of the rear hoop supports ( at rear shocks) tucked down on to the frame( just below floor height) and a brace running flat from the same point out to the center of the main structure. ( more triangalation ) should make the hole area nice and stiff. I Think i can reinforce my stock gas tank support/ trans mount cross brace to allow use of the factory C6 rear mounts. Please feel free to make suggestions, the more the info the better the finished product. THE TRANS IS A C6. Thank you all.

Well, i think xschop has that side of the change sorted out, chrome moly 930 joints, bigger cages, these should handle the HP, and give reliability. Just one of the fine products avaliable on this forum.

Well, still waiting for the trans but it is finally in route. So i have been playing with the rear quarter mods. A little more cutting and should be close. Once i have the quarter sitting proper i will take pics and post.Thses are 997TT quarters, it sure changes the look of the car, but in the right direction.
