For the benefit of 944Hybrids users there are two search functions available for you to use.
The purpose of this sticky is to explain the "Advanced Search" function because it is much more powerful and is the best choice when researching information.

When you log on to the site a list of options is shown in a line at the top of the page. One option is labelled "Search", use this option (NOT the search box lower down on the right).

After you click on the upper search option, a drop down box appears. At the bottom of this box is a radio button marked "Advanced …

Ty for the praises, but there are a bunch of individuals on this form that contributed a lot of info to allow this process. With out there help this would not be possiable. The torsion tube looks as it will be a simple operation to cut and splice,I'm thinking a nice mandrel bent 3" tube, gussetted on the sides for strenght and will also allow a fastening point in the center on a bushing ( just to make sure) but i want to wait for the trans, so i can sit it in place and do the final measure up. I plan to add a cross tube above the floor line to allow a point to fasten a proper harness. There will be a tube placed at the base of the rear hoop supports ( at rear shocks) tucked down on to the frame( just below floor height) and a brace running flat from the same point out to the center of the main structure. ( more triangalation ) should make the hole area nice and stiff. I Think i can reinforce my stock gas tank support/ trans mount cross brace to allow use of the factory C6 rear mounts. Please feel free to make suggestions, the more the info the better the finished product. THE TRANS IS A C6. Thank you all.

Well, i think xschop has that side of the change sorted out, chrome moly 930 joints, bigger cages, these should handle the HP, and give reliability. Just one of the fine products avaliable on this forum.

Well, still waiting for the trans but it is finally in route. So i have been playing with the rear quarter mods. A little more cutting and should be close. Once i have the quarter sitting proper i will take pics and post.Thses are 997TT quarters, it sure changes the look of the car, but in the right direction.

That's sickening...in a good way. Have you got a chance to search an outter stub axle conversion yet? It's the key to using 930 CV's and off-the-shelf axles. I know that the early 944's have different (low #) splines than the later outer shafts and 930 stub axles exist.

I remember seeing a VW with early 944 trailing arms converted to 930 CV's using a commercial stub axle. Also Paul (948) posted a conversion stub axle IIRC.

I have just now clued-into the yellow 911 and the red 924 being the same car. "Sick" is right. People are not going to know what to make of a front-v8-engined 911. Fun!

I can't wait to start the install of the trans. Have to do a little reassembly to the trans, they took some parts off and sent seperated to meet the weight issues on the shipping side, but looks good. I think trim two stubs out the side and that area will be where the torsion tube will cross, which means about an 11" removel out of the center of the torsion unit + or -. I have pulled the torsion bars out of my torsion unit, when cut it will remove the splinded section from the middle and weight. The trans without carrier was 105 pounds according to shipping docs. The TT tube is definetly lighter than our stock TT. will send pics.

While you are at it take detailed pics of how the front input shaft removes and it's dimensions. I always thought it would be trick to mod one to fit the front of the 948 swap. And I'm pretty sure the T1 to 930 stub shaft conversion that EMPI sells will fit perfectly in the EARLY trailing arms as those stubs shafts are also longer than the late stub shafts.

Well here are a few pics of the trans. It would appear that the trans will fit quit nicely between the trialing arms for the rear suspension. I am going to start test fitting torque tube. From the measurements i have taken, it looks like the vette shifter is only an 1 1/2 plus or minus farther forward than the stock porsche local, will update with further pics. I want to set the torsion T back in and set trans to make sure things will work before i cut the torsion tube. But i think this mod should work very well.
