HOW TO DO AN ADVANCED SEARCH.
Mon Jul 08, 2013 3:56 pm by Admin
For the benefit of 944Hybrids users there are two search functions available for you to use.
The purpose of this sticky is to explain the "Advanced Search" function because it is much more powerful and is the best choice when researching information.
When you log on to the site a list of options is shown in a line at the top of the page. One option is labelled "Search", use this option (NOT the search box lower down on the right).
After you click on the upper search option, a drop down box appears. At the bottom of this box is a radio button marked "Advanced …

Re: 928 5-speed kit
Thanks for the info, I'll have to see where the budget is at.xschop wrote:Sounds like you need a 4wd not a hybrid. Yes you can space sway bar forward and down, but forget about lowering car at that point.
I have the one last LS 5 speed kit that I'll build this year. My oilfield parts have me busy for quite awhile.....Drill baby, drill
It's not a hybrid, lol. Just a basic high fuel-mileage box SUV for when I'm not interested in driving the real 4x4 pick-up. The pick-up is great for towing, but it's mileage as a commuter would be absolutely punishing for the majority of my driving. I put so many miles on my commuters that fuel mileage can actually make a real difference in the economics of ownership.
Thanks for the suggestion. For me selling the Jag is actually more about getting out of it while I'm still money ahead than anything else. I'd rather put that money into the 928 than watch it slowly disappear in an aging Jag. With the 928 for a summer toy, the Jag is mostly just baggage.haroldk wrote:You should just see if Justin can still get snows in your size.

Interested,
Just came across this. Appears to be a quality alternative. Is it still available. Will be used in a 78 928 5spd.

Yes, although I sold my LS1-928 and started the V12 hybrid, I still make this kit, just PM for details.

Re: 928 5-speed kit
Ok. Great, figuring out how to PM here , different......
Basically an LS motor ( not quite sure which one, will be budget dictated) car is a 1978 5 Spd.
Well, let me see if I can now PM you.....

Re: 928 5-speed kit
It looks like I forgot to say "Thanks for the kit!" in here. My kit looks good and hopefully I can get back working on my 928 soon. Still need a few more bits before I can start swapping.
However, I've also been talked into helping a friend put a 383 LT1 into a 928 5-speed he just picked up. The OE Porsche engine is DOA, and I'd like to work with your kit for this swap because he may change his mind (again) at some point and decide to change over to an LS mid-swap. I know you mentioned needing a spacer (.4" ?) with the LT1, but was that with a C5 two piece bell housing or with a C4 6-speed bell housing? We have a ZF 6-speed on hand with the OE bell housing. I just have not had time (and enough warm weather) to get the LT1 off the engine stand and and start test-fitting things.
Thanks!

Re: 928 5-speed kit
You would need to add 0.40" plate between C5 bell housing adapter plate and retention tube to fit an Lt1.

Re: 928 5-speed kit
I've got 2 adapter plates and extention tubes ready to go. Engine mounts not included but I will email tech drawing as they are easy to make.

Re: 928 5-speed kit
Mind dropping me an email or PM with the drawings? I still need to put a set of engine mounts together for the race car. I figure working from the drawings should be more precise than trying to copy an existing set of mounts.

Shoot me an email at [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]
I'll send you the pic as I don't have scanner at shop ok.
And again, you can mount the 928 automatic with these adapters. You need to get the 928 AUTO front coupler and mate it to Chevy flex plate.
The 928 Auto is a super strong Mercedes trans FYI.

xschop wrote:I have done a few VERY high speed stoppies in my 928-LS to test the Carbotech pads in my Lexus brakes. The mounts have not moved at all. If you are worried about movement, you could weld the engine mounts to the cross member once you are all adjusted. I designed them with a slot so you can install a Corvette torque tube and 6 speed T56 later. I have helped build a few already. Also Carl Faucet makes a set of billet (solid) trans mounts as well for racing. Tell him I sent you.
Hello, newbie here with plans to build Manual 5-speed 982S with LS3. I have been wondering how the transmission can survive after 430 ls3.
