HOW TO DO AN ADVANCED SEARCH.

Mon Jul 08, 2013 3:56 pm by Admin

For the benefit of 944Hybrids users there are two search functions available for you to use.
The purpose of this sticky is to explain the "Advanced Search" function because it is much more powerful and is the best choice when researching information.

When you log on to the site a list of options is shown in a line at the top of the page. One option is labelled "Search", use this option (NOT the search box lower down on the right).

After you click on the upper search option, a drop down box appears. At the bottom of this box is a radio button marked "Advanced …

Hi All
Can you tell me what spark plugs you are using? I have a 95 LT1 which runs fine, I was just wondering if I have the optimum plugs for my application. Engine has been completely rebuilt and is managed by an Omex 7 series engine management unit so no Optiflex.
Also what gap are you setting, I have NGK plugs set at 0.028".
All comments and suggestions gratefully received.
Thanks

I run NGK T55 plugs gapped to .050" in my '95 LT1. Cheap and they work great. Mine is mostly stock except for a very mild cam and shorty headers. Still using Optispark.

I'll check which plugs I have. With that gap you must be getting a bigger bang.
Engine is stock apart from headers and a complete rebuild with bigger pistons and skimmed heads.
I'm using bosch injectors and Omex 710 engine management.

That .050" gap was what was recommended on the LT1 Camaro and Firebird forums when I looked into it. That's all I've ever tried.

It depends on a number of factors such as cylinder heads, compression ratio, forced induction or natural aspiration, and the amount of power you are making. These factors affect things like gap, heat range, gasket/taper seat, reach, and tip projection.

If you are stock, then an NGK TR55 will work. I would recommend going to at least an iridium plug, but would strongly encourage going to a ruthenium plug. They are about $8 a piece on Rock Auto and the engine runs so much smoother with them.
