throttle cable info...

Regarding the LSx series engines, this is the throttle cable that you need, courtesty of 944-LT1.

The throttle cable is Lokar part # TC-1000TP. It sells for $48.95. This cable is 24" long. If this is not long enough, there is a 36" cable, part # TC-1000TP36 for $54.95. The mounting bracket is part # TCB-40LT4 for $59.95. This bracket mounts in place of the stock bracket.

These are the polished versions at Lokar prices.

In my opinion, the 24" long version is plenty long enough for all 944/LSx applications. LTx applications, however, I am not 100% sure about.

They also have/had a black plastic covered version of each if the SS is too much.

I think we will have all the previous boards info here in less than 5 years! Good posts like this will get er done.

Before I buy this cable, the pics and description from jegs looks like an LT1 style cable. Is there one specifically made for the LS1 intake?
I will make my own bracket because the 5.3l truck throttle bracket doesn't fit on the LS1 intake.

hey xschop how is the 5.3 coming along so far? I was gunning for the cheaper install and hoping to get started in february.. I don't have the fabrication tools so I don't know about any custom stuff involved.

I'm almost to the point where I just need a wiring harness and exhaust and gauges worked out.....UH...and a paint job ...LOL
You don't need fabrication skills, all the difficult parts of the swap can be bought off the shelf here....

Both the LS and LT cables from lokar are 36" but the LS throttle body cam is on the passengers side of the intake whereas the LT cam is on the drivers side. The stock GM LS cable is ~6" longer than the stock GM LT cable but I believe the distance from either LS or LT throttle cam to the go pedal on the camaro is quite a bit longer than the same distance in the 944.

To illustrate, the LT cable I was using with my LT measured 24" of plastic sleeve from the clip that attached to the firewall to the other clip that attaches to the stock LT1 throttle body cable bracket. However, the cable within was a total of 31.5" long. It was taken from a late 90's Camaro V6. As it was hooked to my pedal and cam, it had a lazy "S" curve going on as seen in the picture below. The LT1 camaro guys use the 24" Lokar SS cable as they claim the 36" is way too long. But, for the LS1, since the cable is on the opposite side of the intake, it may benefit from a longer cable so that the cable is not at such an angle across the top of the intake and instead may wrap around the intake a little better. Lokar DOES sell a cut-to-fit model for the LS if youre interested in cutting to length.

As far as the barrels at the end of the cable that attaches the TB cam, the camaro V6 cables barrel required me to slightly enlarge the cam hole. Not sure why but whatever. I would assume the barrels are the same for the LT and LS. I hope this helps!

I bought the GM 12550676 one that is recommended in "The Manual" from [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] and paid $18.04 (less shipping and handling).

I literally just ordered it two days ago and do not know its length.

Nothing really other than the GM cable is not really forgiving towards modifications. So if you have to cut it or something, it could get hairy. The Lokar cables, however, are made just for this and have the ability to be modified for swaps and such. I believe the Lokar stuff gives you the ability to move the barrel? But the GM is just dead set.

And then physically, the lokars are stainless steel braided and pretty. Many just buy them so when they open the hood....Bling!

But the GM cable you bought should be fine. Youll just have to adapt it to the porsche pedal; which isnt bad at all. I modified my GM cable and it turned out quite well and lasted for years.

anyway sorry about the off topic posts

I just got in the 3/4" stock to make more of the brackets for the truck and F-body crank pilley offset. I will be modifying a March performace Billet 6-groove pulley to keep the cost down on the kit. Look for it soon on the site. As a heads up, if you are unning the F-body Crank pulley, I will need you to send me the F-body Alt bracket and I will mill it 0.75" for free and send with the kit.....
