HOW TO DO AN ADVANCED SEARCH.
Mon Jul 08, 2013 3:56 pm by Admin
For the benefit of 944Hybrids users there are two search functions available for you to use.
The purpose of this sticky is to explain the "Advanced Search" function because it is much more powerful and is the best choice when researching information.
When you log on to the site a list of options is shown in a line at the top of the page. One option is labelled "Search", use this option (NOT the search box lower down on the right).
After you click on the upper search option, a drop down box appears. At the bottom of this box is a radio button marked "Advanced …

4.8 Swap questions
So I have that 944 N/A transmission and I am about to install it into my 924. Currently the 924 has a mix mash of parts, but has a 944 suspension as well. I know ideally the 951 transmission should be used, but I really would like to use the 944 N/A. I don't mid going with a lower HP engine like a 4.8 GM. From what i have found online the 944 N/A works well until you hit the 300-320hp mark and the stock 4.8 is about 280, so what's from stopping me?
I'm not a GM guy, I could wrench on the engines all day long, but i don't know what intake to use bell housing adapters etc... Would the C6 bell housing fit on the 4.8 from Texas Performance Concepts?
What are the interchangeable parts when it comes to GM engines?
Ideally,... in my 924, I'd like to run a 4.8ltr to a 944 N/A transmission.

Re: 4.8 Swap questions
Thomas,
welcome to the madness.
I am also a novice when it comes to wrenching on anything. this forum has provided me with a lot of info and made me finally just say ...do it....
I'm in the process of swapping mine and slowly working out the kinks.
i got my kit from TPC, Kent has been a great help and will give you a lot off advice on which route would best suit your build.
I've posted on here https://944hybrids.forumotion.com/t3520-86-porsche-944t-ls1-swap-begins.
sorry if I didn't answer your question if an NA trans would work. I don't see why it shouldn't especially if you're keeping the power down. But there is always that temptation on putting the pedal down....sooner or later you may need to source a better transmission though.
