HOW TO DO AN ADVANCED SEARCH.
Mon Jul 08, 2013 3:56 pm by Admin
For the benefit of 944Hybrids users there are two search functions available for you to use.
The purpose of this sticky is to explain the "Advanced Search" function because it is much more powerful and is the best choice when researching information.
When you log on to the site a list of options is shown in a line at the top of the page. One option is labelled "Search", use this option (NOT the search box lower down on the right).
After you click on the upper search option, a drop down box appears. At the bottom of this box is a radio button marked "Advanced …

Re: RX7 Caliper Swap
Will these work on my 83 fronts? I do not need rears as I am running C5 Vette Calipers in the back.

Re: RX7 Caliper Swap
Well, apparently I can't count, it looks like we have 5 interested already (including myself)...Everybody good with doing Paypal for this? I'll get an exact cost this weekend (part cost, packaging materials, shipping.) Like I said, not looking to make a profit on this, just wanna get some brackets myself for my project. Best way I can show I'm legit I guess is my eBay profile: http://www.ebay.com/usr/osx86ftw
I'll get a price this weekend, let me know if you guys are good with Paypal

Not as far as I know, I'm running Wilwoods on the front, dunno if that makes sense for you with the size of the C5 Vette rear calipers (not sure how big they are.) I used these brackets: http://www.wagenswest.com/partstore/index.php/944-front-disk-brake-wilwood-adapter-bracket-pair.html
and these calipers (best price for red I found, gotta have red ): http://www.ebay.com/itm/Wilwood-Forged-Dynalite-Brake-Caliper-120-6816-RD-NEW-/310320155240
EDIT: I have an 87 non-turbo, I have no idea if that'll change anything for you or not...

Re: RX7 Caliper Swap
So, final cost for two brackets, shipped, is $148 (round number). That includes flat rate shipping through USPS, and the packing material. Just to make it clear, the brackets will be fully CNC'd, except for the two slots on the brackets to make caliper clearance possible, as I do not have accurate measurements for those, they can be easily added with a file or an angle grinder on your own.
I'll be doing this through Paypal, if you're going to be sending money, send $152.73 to cover Paypal fees (unless you prefer to use the gift option, that does not include fees, but you receive no purchase protection through Paypal)
My Paypal address is nickserrett@gmail.com Please make sure to include your 944hybrids screenname in the notes, so I know who I've received payment from
I'll post updates as I get them!
EDIT: Approximate lead time for the brackets to be machined is about 12 days, plus shipping time to me, and from me to you.

Re: RX7 Caliper Swap
Should we maybe try to start attracting new attention?
It appears the other two either forgot about this or maybe weren't as serious as they seemed.
I could post on a couple 944 facebook groups and on RL to try and find a couple more. I feel like there are enough people modifying these cars that it shouldn't be too hard to find two more that are interested.

Re: RX7 Caliper Swap
I just went ahead and refunded the money to the ones who did make a payment, we didn't have enough interest to go through with this...and it's been a while, maybe at a later date we can set something up.

Re: RX7 Caliper Swap
Not sure if anyone has tried this, but I went ahead and ordered a Porsche Cayenne rear caliper on ebay. I'm going to see about mounting it with porsche 951 300mm rotors. If that doesn't work, I might try the 330mm rear rotors from a 996 Carrera 4. They seem to have the same size bore for the Ebrake. And nearly the same offset as the early 944. Only difference is the centering bore is 98mm, so a seperate set of centering rings from the Cayenne ones would be needed. All in all, it would be great to just use the stock 300mm rotors. I need something to compliment my Z06 brakes in the front anyway.

Re: RX7 Caliper Swap
My brakes are from a 2014 Porsche 911 C4S (991) and I'm pretty sure the rear rotors are the same as the 996 Carrera 4. You have to enlarge the hub hole (rear) instead of a centering ring and you need to shim it out .07" if I remember correctly or it will hit the park brake shoes with a narrow offset hub.superman22x wrote:I might try the 330mm rear rotors from a 996 Carrera 4. Ah, ok, I guess I haven't looked closely at the rear hub for this. Machining out a rotor might be more of a pain for those without a lathe or mill like myself.
Those calipers you have are radial mount rather than axial?

Re: RX7 Caliper Swap
Yes. most 911s are radial mount. Mine are 32mm x 4 with a very large pad.
