HOW TO DO AN ADVANCED SEARCH.

For the benefit of 944Hybrids users there are two search functions available for you to use.
The purpose of this sticky is to explain the "Advanced Search" function because it is much more powerful and is the best choice when researching information.
When you log on to the site a list of options is shown in a line at the top of the page. One option is labelled "Search", use this option (NOT the search box lower down on the right).
After you click on the upper search option, a drop down box appears. At the bottom of this box is a radio button marked "Advanced …

BMW Hydroboost Reservoir
I'm running a BMW Hydroboost setup with the stock ls1 F body pump and reservoir. I find the brakes run well with no bad habits other than the reservoir on the pump can't handle the excess fluid stored in the "Bomb" when the brakes are operated with the engine off.
Is anyone else running this setup? How did you solve this problem?
Thanks
Pat

Re: BMW Hydroboost Reservoir
Hi Pat, I'm still setting mine up, just rebuilt the booster, fabbed a mount, etc. I will use the BMW reservoir, and lose the GM one on the pump.
How is the boost, does it come on right away? What M/C are you using?

Re: BMW Hydroboost Reservoir
Thanks Mike,
I've only driven it a few quick times around the block, I was so distracted by the pedal on the right that I hardly thought about the one in the middle. I never drove it with the stock booster but I bet it's close.
I'll be swapping the reservoir out to keep the fluid in, I should have done that from the start but the GM setup is so compact and easy.

Re: BMW Hydroboost Reservoir
Lots of return hoses with the BMW setup. The reservoir has an internal baffle, to keep things under control, not sure the capacity, but looks to be at least a quart, also not sure where the filll line is.

Re: BMW Hydroboost Reservoir
I'd start with the level low, bleed everything, then pump the bomb down and fill the reservoir as needed.
I was surprised how much fluid the thing held.
where is your reservoir? stock spot?

Re: BMW Hydroboost Reservoir
Good advice, thanks. I was hoping to mount it up near the firewall, but it will go in the stock location. I'm removing the BMW mount on the reservoir, stripping and repainting it. Hydraulic hoses for the return lines came in yesterday, so plumbing can begin.
I am planning to mount the regulator/bomb behind driver's headlight, for the shortest high pressure line setup. Where did you mount yours?

That's where I put it. The arm on the back of the light misses it by 1/4".
I did remove the sender/switch on top of the bomb to slide it up some.
Have you driven your car yet?

Re: BMW Hydroboost Reservoir
I've driven it around the neighborhood with dual master manual brakes, not boosted yet. Looking forward to trying it boosted.

Re: BMW Hydroboost Reservoir
Hi Red
Sorry for the delay. I'm out of town and have very few pics with me.
Pm and I will send (I can't post from my phone)
I can tell you I cut the cerial bowl to fit with the stock master.
The bomb is behind the driver head light with the reservoir in the stock location.
I think I ran the booster return direct to the reservoir and tee'd the steering and bomb returns.
The stock ls1 pump has a copper pipe to solder fitting pressed in with a 90 deg pipe to flare.
Hope that helps.
This cars a blast, runs like a scared rabbit

Re: BMW Hydroboost Reservoir
Here's how I mounted the regulator and bomb, I made a bracket out of 1/8 steel I had laying around:
I used Russell Performance Powerflex hose and fittings for the high pressure lines.
Here's the PS pump with the high pressure and low pressure lines attached. I started using heat shrink clamps for all my low pressure lines for the power steering and for the heater hoses. Nice clean look.
I put the reservoir in the original Porsche spot, I cut off the top part of the mount so the reservoir would fit flush:

Re: BMW Hydroboost Reservoir
I used the porsche stuff. The return is just a hose push on with a clamp. The supply I had a hose shop use the old banjo with a new hose.
Hope that helps

Re: BMW Hydroboost Reservoir
Hey ive been gathering all the parts to put my bmw set up together and i was wondering what are the sizes and threads to the fittings you used on the bomb, i was going to have a hose shop make all my lines for me but your set up looks a lot easier and better.
