For the benefit of 944Hybrids users there are two search functions available for you to use.
The purpose of this sticky is to explain the "Advanced Search" function because it is much more powerful and is the best choice when researching information.
When you log on to the site a list of options is shown in a line at the top of the page. One option is labelled "Search", use this option (NOT the search box lower down on the right).
After you click on the upper search option, a drop down box appears. At the bottom of this box is a radio button marked "Advanced …

Anyone used a truck motor or FWD v8?
I'm curious to see if anyone has used the LS4 or the Truck motor for a conversion? It seems that these motors are much cheaper than the LS1. I'm also having a hard time finding a motor. Does anyone know where exactly to look for these motors at?

LM7
I installed the 5.3l LM7 TRUCK motor in mine with the LS1 corvette intake. 43K mile motor and accessories for $700 IIRC. LS1 intake $75. The 5.3l injectors fit right in the LS1 manifold. I am hunting for a 5.3l wiring harness as we speak because the yard where I got the motor has harnesses with various connectors missing. I am using the Fidanza LS1 Flywheel and Camaro Pressure plate and a CP4018 Clutch disk $40 from Autozone.
And I have not used for the anything from Renegades, keeping the swap under $3500.
Oh yes, and member Johnny Johnny has installed the all alloy 5.3l engine as well

what connectors are you missing? Ive run into a few websites that have the oem housings (tabs separate)... probably cheaper to grab some from the scrap yard though.

LS4 Issues
The LS4's (FWD) starter is on the transmission. If you can solve for that challenge, it might be a good choice. The next hurdle would be where the water lines enter/exit form the motor and if they interfere with the 944 body etc.
