For the benefit of 944Hybrids users there are two search functions available for you to use.
The purpose of this sticky is to explain the "Advanced Search" function because it is much more powerful and is the best choice when researching information.

When you log on to the site a list of options is shown in a line at the top of the page. One option is labelled "Search", use this option (NOT the search box lower down on the right).

After you click on the upper search option, a drop down box appears. At the bottom of this box is a radio button marked "Advanced …

will 996 brakes work on a 944? or does it have to be the 993 calipers and discs? or are the 993 and 996 parts the same?

I would also be interested in hearing about 996 or other alternatives to the Big Red set up. My car came with the 993 Big Red conversion already done to it. If I was considering it, I would research another route. Rotors for mine are $200 a piece (the best I could find in a pinch) and that was for solid rotors.

This is one area where I'm envious of a track buddy with a 996 GT3. While 9 times out of 10, his car wil be exponentially more expensive to maintain than my 951, he is buying Cayenne rotors for just over $100 each. This is a popular substitution among the GT3 group.

Search the threads on this site, brake upgrades been addressed previously by Xschop.
I have his suggested Boxster S front rotors with LS 430 Calipers and 951 rear rotors with RX7 Calipers.
All the data is on here and the adaptors are also available. These parts are quite cheap.

If you have 87-up NA spindles/Hubs, I have Wilwood Superlite adapters for use with the Bigger/Inexpensive Cayenne rotors....

I also have a rear Wilwood radial adapter that I'm going to manufacture for our 944/951/928 cars as well.... The sky's the limit on piston sizes and pad material.

The front adapter kit comes with Cayenne rotor centering rings for the 87-up hubs...$209 shipped/set
I'll have the rears CNC'd in a few weeks and will be $155/set shipped, no centering rings, just rear 951 rotors are needed.

There is no reason to go with 996 calipers or rotors.

Otherwise the 330mm upgrade would be killer. Cheaper rotors than your existing set-up and cheaper brake pads (no Porsche tax on Wilwood products).
