HOW TO DO AN ADVANCED SEARCH.
Mon Jul 08, 2013 3:56 pm by Admin
For the benefit of 944Hybrids users there are two search functions available for you to use.
The purpose of this sticky is to explain the "Advanced Search" function because it is much more powerful and is the best choice when researching information.
When you log on to the site a list of options is shown in a line at the top of the page. One option is labelled "Search", use this option (NOT the search box lower down on the right).
After you click on the upper search option, a drop down box appears. At the bottom of this box is a radio button marked "Advanced …

LSx engine plates
I'm posting this again in case it got lost in the fiasco. The motor mount dims that gt1scca posted are for the LT1. They work great for the LS engines with an LT1 "set back plate". When you mount this plate to an LS engine, the engine sits in normally in relation to the Xmember but allows clearance of drivers upright to the steering rack shaft. CARSHOP INC (no affiliation) has them, but I found that this design puts the front sump of the Moroso 20140 oil pan 1.25" away from the back side of the Xmember

Re: LSx engine plates
Where does this go? (I'm stoopid) This goes between the engine and motor mount, or between the car frame and motor mount?
Do you have a pic of it installed?

Re: LSx engine plates
It bolts right to the engine block and the motor mounts are bolted to this plate. From there, the motor mounts bolt to the engine mount uprights that go to the crossmember.

Re: LSx engine plates
I thought your (and others I have seen) were angled forward to bolt/weld onto the cars frame, and put the block in the correct location?
I'm sure I'm mis-understanding what these plates do .... Are they to correctly position the block so you can use the stock LSx mounts instead of your billet mounts?

Re: LSx engine plates
I will restate this again. Sorry the info was lost on the Dead board. The mounts I made were from gt1scca's drawings but redesigned with a replaceable bolt, billet steel machined base, and an extra 1/4" lower for adjustability since all the 944 X-members are all off in spreadwidths by up to .5" .....They are also designed with very thick machined bolt-throughs to allow for extra strength from the shorter bolt through design so as to get an extra 3/8" forward and 3/8" aftwards adjustability there as well.......
That being said, these mounts clear the steering rack on SBC/LT blocks and you need these plates to use these mounts on the LS engines because their 4ea plate mount locations are machined 1.5" more towards the back of the block.
I also mentioned that CARSHOP INC has "SBC/LT1 setback plates" that will work. They are 1/4" steel I believe. I made mine from 1/2" steel because of the fact that I'm using an Iron block.I said before that I will work with anyone to make plates to their specs if they want to run AC since the passenger's side plate MAY need to be a bit shorter......Just PM for details
