HOW TO DO AN ADVANCED SEARCH.
Mon Jul 08, 2013 3:56 pm by Admin
For the benefit of 944Hybrids users there are two search functions available for you to use.
The purpose of this sticky is to explain the "Advanced Search" function because it is much more powerful and is the best choice when researching information.
When you log on to the site a list of options is shown in a line at the top of the page. One option is labelled "Search", use this option (NOT the search box lower down on the right).
After you click on the upper search option, a drop down box appears. At the bottom of this box is a radio button marked "Advanced …

where to get upholstery kits
my interior is looking pretty ratty, and this winter i plan to put a cage in my car, and that means certain interior parts are either going to need to be reupholstered now, or never. ive been looking around for a complete upholstery kit and have come up sort of empty handed. im able to to find a couple companies selling dash recovering kits, and a guy out of the UK selling various other parts (although only rhd dash covers). ideally id like everything to come from one company so it all matches.
does anyone know of any companies that sell interior kits for these cars?

Seat covers
only944.com has seat covers in vinyl. They fit well and are reasonably priced.

I bought a set of vinyl replacement seat cover off eBay from an upholstery shop in New York. Put them on this summer and they look great. Relatively easy install and about 1/2 price of anywhere else I saw.

Classic9 is great if you have time .My son restored a 1989 928 s4 and changed the interior from beige to black with red stitching and it took about 2 years to get the parts, Fortunately he wasn't in a hurry. Cost wise by the time he was done with a local upholsterer putting on the seat covers he's got about 8-9 grand into it.

Appbiz.com can provide RS style carpet kits from what I have heard but you have to contact them. I think if you even search around you can find pictures online.

ive been trying to get a hold of appbiz about the rs carpet kit for a few months now and i get no response. the floorpan is modified in my car and while a moulded carpet kit does sort of fit i do need to make some pieces myself, so the rs style would be perfect. ive been trying to get a carpet kit direct from auto custom carpets as my shop is a dealer for them. my problem is i need extra yardage to do the custom work and because they have a material shortage they will only sell 1 yard max. their carpet is a little different look than others so getting the extra carpet elsewhere isnt a great option. dealing with carpet this year has been a huge issue, im getting close to finding a sewing machine and some perlon felt and stitching the edge binding on myself.
im not doing factory seats, ive already got a pair of kirkey seats in the car, and the back seat is deleted.
i was considering ordering everything from the company on ebay. the seller "JF customs" in the UK does leather skins for every piece in the 944. i havent found anyone who has used them for a 944 interior, but ive seen mixed reviews on fitment for other vehicles.
i might just get the vinyl dash and console skins from classic 9, and do the headliner myself. most of my upholstery is in alright shape, just the typical dash cracks, the console is peeling, and the headliner seems like the material has shrunk.

quick update
i got a hold of robert from appbiz, and he had just finished a run of 944 kits . i ended up ordering one from him along with a couple extra yards and some edge binding. so my nightmare of finding carpet appears to be over.
now just for the rest of it.

Just so you know, that carpet kit is A very rough cut. I bought one years ago and it takes a lot of customization.
