HOW TO DO AN ADVANCED SEARCH.

For the benefit of 944Hybrids users there are two search functions available for you to use.
The purpose of this sticky is to explain the "Advanced Search" function because it is much more powerful and is the best choice when researching information.
When you log on to the site a list of options is shown in a line at the top of the page. One option is labelled "Search", use this option (NOT the search box lower down on the right).
After you click on the upper search option, a drop down box appears. At the bottom of this box is a radio button marked "Advanced …

Which turbo trans for my swap application?
Hey guys, I have a 1985.5 NA that I plan to LS swap. I'm doing all of the supporting mods first so I can still drive the car while stockpiling conversion parts.
I about have the suspension taken care of and next on my list is the transmission but with all the different option codes, I'm beyond confused on which one to go with.
I don't plan to autocross with this car. It'll mostly be a weekend street toy with a bit of power. No clutch dumps or drag racing. Probably a fair bit of highway driving. Looking to throw a cam in a LS1 and have it tuned so I should be just under 400hp.
I'd prefer not to spend thousands of dollars for an AOR because I won't need it. I know I won't need the oil cooler but I'm unsure if I'll need the LSD? If I don't plan to drag race or start from a dig I'm unsure of how much benefit it'll be to me.
With all that being said, here are my questions:
1. LSD or no LSD?
2. Can I use my current 5th gear for the swap?
3. Will any turbo trans work for my application?
Any advice or guidance would be much appreciated!

here is the master list of transmission codes

an aor is likely overkill for what your doing. as for a limited slip, it will change the cars overall feel not only when accelerating from a stop, but also when braking and cornering. do some reading on how a limited slip affects a road coarse car, most of the info translates into street driving.

Yes LSD, Yes and Yes.
If you already owned a non LSD turbo I'd use it, since you don't, I'd hold out for a good deal on any LSD turbo trans. Your 5th gear will work and you can loop the cooler lines if you want. It sounds like you have time so don't get in a hurry and settle for the first thing you find.
Read this section, there is a lot of info.
