HOW TO DO AN ADVANCED SEARCH.

Mon Jul 08, 2013 3:56 pm by Admin

For the benefit of 944Hybrids users there are two search functions available for you to use.
The purpose of this sticky is to explain the "Advanced Search" function because it is much more powerful and is the best choice when researching information.

When you log on to the site a list of options is shown in a line at the top of the page. One option is labelled "Search", use this option (NOT the search box lower down on the right).

After you click on the upper search option, a drop down box appears. At the bottom of this box is a radio button marked "Advanced …

Hi,
Just a quick one on Aus version VY manual looms,

After the firewall grommit I have two connections,
One large white 30pin approx that has majority of wires for gauges etc
One smaller white 8pin connector that the ign 12v run back to amongst others

Does anyone have the code of these connectors or let me know which module they are intended to connect to?? Finding it hard to locate these within the VY wiring diagram or any other wiring diagram for that matter.

There is also one mystery 2pin connection that runs between these two white connectors, it has a black body with green bellows rubber and light green, brown/blue stripe wires going to it.
Was there an air temp sensor for a/c in the dash or climate control around here, flylead is about 20cm,
Any help would be appreciated
Regards
Stu

Hey mate, I can't comment on the wiring loom, as I am going to run a Holley standalone (although I do have a 2003 motor as well).

The major differences I have noticed so far:

The dipstick is different: on my aussie motor, the tube is attached to the sump. From what I can tell, the yank motors go through the block (there is a pre-existing hole, with a small welch plug in it, which will punch right out). I currently have no idea what dipstick to use?

One less sump rail bolt hole: I'm not sure what the yank blocks have, but my block is missing the hole in the sump rail; and the sump has a hole in it for a bolt. This is located right where the aussie dipstick would go (you can see on the Aussie sump there is a large gap in the holes in the sump).

RHD Power Steering rack: RHD racks are quite different from LHD racks (the Rennbay kit wont work for RHD racks). The clearance between the sump, and the bulge on the rack, near the rack tower is REALLY tight, like millimeters tight. Eric was nice enough to supply me with an extra set of engine mounts, not welded up. I have use the plates that bolt onto the block, and the round plates that sit on the X-Member to space it out, and now have a fair bit of clearance.

I have run across a problem where the sump seems to be fouling/resting on the windage tray, meaning that the sump doesn't want to bolt down.

Anyone know if there are differences in the Aussie and Yank windage trays? Part # appears to be 12558189.

Cheers,

Lee.

Thx Lee,
I got a different sump, which came with its own windage tray, looks like I'll have to use the block welsh plug for the dipstick plug....
I have the original removed sump which is 12561542 and windage tray 12558189

IIRC there was a different access hole for the oil pickup...

BTW do you have a two wire alt plug and know the connections?
cheers

FYI - low speed fan and MIL are run from the BCM not directly from the PCM, apparently they are still pinned to the pcm and can be wired accordingly, I have rewired this way but will need to confirm if no changes to pcm programming are required.

There is one wire to RED terminal pin 5 (light blue wire) wired directly from pcm to dash connector I still can't identify through any of my literature, anyone have a suggestion as to what this might be?? All the other pins are correct so thinking it might be an option like ABS etc...
cheers

If you got your oil pans from me (TPC) then you will need to use a Camaro dip stick in the block hole, and windage tray
