HOW TO DO AN ADVANCED SEARCH.

For the benefit of 944Hybrids users there are two search functions available for you to use.
The purpose of this sticky is to explain the "Advanced Search" function because it is much more powerful and is the best choice when researching information.
When you log on to the site a list of options is shown in a line at the top of the page. One option is labelled "Search", use this option (NOT the search box lower down on the right).
After you click on the upper search option, a drop down box appears. At the bottom of this box is a radio button marked "Advanced …

mcleod 12" x 1" x 23 spline clutch
I'm going to be getting a LT1 shortly; I just sold my old engine and transmission
I have a mcleod 12" x 1" x 23 spline clutch that I bought with the bellhousing adapter. I need to know if I can even use it? Is there a flywheel and pressure plate I can use with this clutch disk?

I just measured the disk itself and it measures 10 3/8"?
Thanks,
Spencer

It's the manual SBC bellhousing; below are pictures of the exact adapter setup.

I'm sure someone else will chime in on this, but I think you will have to use the 10 1/2" clutch and flywheel set up with that bell housing. If it is a stock GM bell housing, I am almost positive that the 12" flywheel setup will not fit. The bell housing hits the fire wall in the car.
Re: mcleod 12" x 1" x 23 spline clutch
There should be a part number cast into the bellhousing somewhere. But it looks like a regular gen1 BH which will accept the 11+1" disc. (there seems to be a bug or something under my number "two" key on my laptop so I cant type twelve.
The renegadehybrids cast BH for the LT1 would NOT allow anything above 10.5" because its depth was a bit less than a stock GM housing. But, that BH looks like it will be fine. Was just working on a 67 and 65 corvette with a BH that is just like that one and they both get 11+1" clutch discs.

Re: mcleod 12" x 1" x 23 spline clutch
The part number on the bellhousing is 464697 (1978 GM A Body Bellhousing)... I can only use an 11" setup after doing some searching...
Should a 12" clutch actually measure 12" in dia? Like I said the one I have measures 10 3/8"?
Thanks guys

Re: mcleod 12" x 1" x 23 spline clutch
Oh yeah youre right....just 11" for that BH. I also noticed that my old 10.5" clutch is not really 10.5" as well. So no I dont know why they listed it at 12" when its far from it. Weird. I also noticed that many people assume that the OD of the LS3/7 clutch disc was 12" but really its 11-7/16".
But saying its 12" but only 10-3/8" is really off and may be bad for a pressure plate/ flywheel thats a larger diameter??? I would call your local clutch guy to see whats up.....and then post it here!

Could you do me a favour and measure your old clutch? (if you still have it)
