HOW TO DO AN ADVANCED SEARCH.
Tue Jul 09, 2013 4:56 am by Admin
For the benefit of 944Hybrids users there are two search functions available for you to use.
The purpose of this sticky is to explain the "Advanced Search" function because it is much more powerful and is the best choice when researching information.
When you log on to the site a list of options is shown in a line at the top of the page. One option is labelled "Search", use this option (NOT the search box lower down on the right).
After you click on the upper search option, a drop down box appears. At the bottom of this box is a radio button marked "Advanced …

Yep! But remember, if it wasnt used on your car, there may not be a wire there. You may need to add one.
I hope this helps,

My car had a functioning Check Engine light on the dash. IDK why the diagrams don't list it, but it used to light up and go away when the car was being started.

Re: 90 Cab swap
I just want to verify, grn/blk is the tach wire right? That is number 2 under the dash, but on my car there are 2 wires that are combined on #2, is that normal?

Yeah, connector T1 [passengers compartment footwell] at pin 2 is the GN/BK wire. This braches off at pin 2 to the T26 diagnosis plug in the engine compartment.
You can also grab this wire at pin 3 of Plug B behind the instrument cluster.
I made you a simplified shematic of the wire path.

No problem. To be honest, the schematic wasnt really for you... I know you know where its at but for others who search.... there it be.

Are the rear coil overs in addition to the torsion bars?

Yes. They are 150# springs and really cut down on the squat under power.

Sorted my over heating issue. In the end though it was just a stuck thermostat.

Re: 90 Cab swap
As you all know the 944 and 968 cabriolet have an electric pop mechanism for the trunk. Porsche got their head out of their butt with the 968 and made an emergency release for if/when the electric system fails. Unfortunately for us 944's do not have this, however this is what I did. Maybe this will help some of you do make an emergency release.
Remove the latch.

Remove the round pull out of it's holder. As you can see it has a hole through it, if it doesn't go through drill it out the rest of the way. I had 2 latches, the original 90 had a hole through it, the 89 did not.
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
I ran 18 gauge wire through the hole, put a round crimp on connector on the end and put the round pull thing back on it tight (it acts as a pinch).
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
Routed the wire like the next coupel wires.
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
You'll need to use a fish to get the wire through the reinforcements.

Proof of concept.
