HOW TO DO AN ADVANCED SEARCH.
Mon Jul 08, 2013 3:56 pm by Admin
For the benefit of 944Hybrids users there are two search functions available for you to use.
The purpose of this sticky is to explain the "Advanced Search" function because it is much more powerful and is the best choice when researching information.
When you log on to the site a list of options is shown in a line at the top of the page. One option is labelled "Search", use this option (NOT the search box lower down on the right).
After you click on the upper search option, a drop down box appears. At the bottom of this box is a radio button marked "Advanced …

update
Doc, the car looks great. I will be interested to see the dyno numbers. Keep up the good work.

Re: It begins....
Thanks! I'm hoping to have it back on the road Feb 15th. It'll then go to get the suspension setup done (corner weigh/balance, alignment and torsion bar delete).
After that it'll be time to put some mileage on it to shake it out before track season starts and take care of some interior stuff and the AC. The vents always blow hot air, I suspect a broken flap control clip.

Another update! Intake is basically done and fitted, hood closes. Need to trim the "legs" off the Y pipe a little and the twin k&n air filters will fit perfectly.
Also cut some holes in the front bumper cover to get more air into the intake and radiator.
Car should be together and going to smog next Wednesday and hit the dyno next Thursday.

Looks good. But as I wrote in Rich's thread, make sure that the air that is coming through your vented nose panel is ducted down through the radiator for cooling.

Re: It begins....
Nose actually isn't vented, just the front bumper cover is. I'll look into the ducting for sure

What fans are you using with the RD radiator? And are you using spacers?

Re: It begins....
I'm using a 2400cfm Spal fan with the RD radiator and Eric's 1/2" crossmember spacers.

Re: It begins....
Do you think having that and then also adding a pusher fan for the condenser will help with cooling, along with keeping the ac working well? And do you have a part number on that fan?

Re: It begins....
I'm not sure if the pusher fan would help vs being more of an obstruction. On the street temps are fine, I was having issues at the track. My temps aren't any higher than what the CMC/AI F body racers see, but I was just uncomfortable with them, figured I'd do my best to mitigate them this offseason.
So I re did the radiator mounts making sure the radiator was snuggled up against the ducting, made sure the fan is controlled by the PCM and is shutting off at speed, added a SLP 180F tstat and Evans Cooling water pump and cut the holes in the front bumper cover.

Re: It begins....
well hopefully since I have the GT Racing bumper I will have less of a problem. I have to keep the ac because the humidity around here is terrible in the summer. How much was the RD radiator and where did you get the fan and part #? I already bought an edelbrock water pump. And I have a 160 thermostat.

Re: It begins....
the fan came with the RD radiator. I bought it from a hybrids guy who bought it and never used it, otherwise I think they're $800ish from RH.

Re: It begins....
Here's the completed intake. Wiring is just about finished, the PSI harness had the pin out for AC, but hadn't run the two wires to the compressor to make it work, so that has to be done. We've wired up the "!" in the instrument cluster as the check engine light and moved the ODB2 port to the glovebox. Everything else was buttoned up and ready to go, I think it hit the dyno later this afternoon, should be getting smogged tomorrow morning than finishing touches applied.
After that it heads over to Cervelli for torsion bar delete and suspension setup, plus having a NA 5th gear swapped in to get better highway cruising.

Re: It begins....
Dyno numbers are in!
I made a nice, round 400rwhp and 380ft lbs of torque. Way fatter curves for both, much more area under the curve.
Before the intake and exhaust were restricting me, now it's the cam. A hotter cam would probably give me another 25-30rwhp, but I'm at the maximum power I can make and still stay in the confines of NASA TT3 time trials. If I decide to bump up to TT2 I'll have to do the cam swap/retune.
So in comparison to before, with the S&P headers, LS6 intake and Comp 224/224 cam I made 337rwhp. With the S&P headers, LS6 intake and my current EPS cam I made 373rwhp, but the following year, with no changes the car made 360rwhp.
Not sure if the 373rwhp was an aberration, or the car just degraded over the off season, but no matter what my current intake/exhaust setup has added 30rwhp.

Re: It begins....
Absolutely! The headers made a huge difference!
Honestly I haven't driven or even heard the car run yet, it's getting shuttled to the suspension guru's shop today and I'll pick it up this Friday.

Needs more DIY...
Your car's "getting shuttled" while I'm underneath mine busting my knuckles and getting CV grease in my hair.

Re: It begins....
Well, if I knew how to properly corner weigh/balance/align the car I'd do it myself.
Some stuff I do myself, the other stuff gets farmed out. For instance I don't have the fab/welding skills to build the intake or weld aluminum (radiator mounts) etc, etc. Plus at this point my time is more valuable than the cost savings...

My hands and arms look like I spent the weekend clawing through thorn bushes. On the bright side, I'm bald, so the grease comes off easily

I hear ya. I hire the stuff like alignments too and do the grunt labor and telling myself my hobby is my passion. But honestly, I get really sick of rolling around on that concrete floor. Here's to wishing us both great track days this season.

And great races for you too, Tim.
Anyway, glad you're getting such good numbers with your new setup, Doc. Being right at the top of the class limit is good. My setup has got to give up a bunch of rwhp to yours, but mine's lighter.

Re: It begins....
I do all the easy stuff, brake work, suspension install, replacing O2 sensors, some interior stuff.
Mostly I like to drive tho.
I sure hope I have a good track season this year, last year was a dud, car wasn't running very strong, then it caught on fire.
The past several months were spent going through the entire swap and replacing/redoing a lot of components to make everything better.

Yeah, I could easily drop a lot of weight off the car, but then I wouldn't want to drive it to the track anymore.
I like having AC and a radio when I have to drive in triple digit heat for several hours to the track!

Hot damn, the car passed emissions today! I want to tell all the state authorities from the bottom of my heart to BLOW ME. You tried your best, but the car is licensed for the street playing by your ridiculous Byzantine, worthless pos rules.
