HOW TO DO AN ADVANCED SEARCH.
Mon Jul 08, 2013 3:56 pm by Admin
For the benefit of 944Hybrids users there are two search functions available for you to use.
The purpose of this sticky is to explain the "Advanced Search" function because it is much more powerful and is the best choice when researching information.
When you log on to the site a list of options is shown in a line at the top of the page. One option is labelled "Search", use this option (NOT the search box lower down on the right).
After you click on the upper search option, a drop down box appears. At the bottom of this box is a radio button marked "Advanced …

Re: It begins....
Eric tied up all the little things today. All that remains is getting the tune done and fabb'ing the A/C lines and filling it with r134a.
Here are pics of the finished product.

Looks good.
Are the two driver side rear coils under the Hydroboost on the fender well?

Driver's side coils are mounted to the strut tower.
Hood pin bracket is mounted to the side of the upright that hold the valance.

I like how you were able to keep the pop up lights even with the intake setup that you are running. I figured the bar would have to come out along with the hood latch plate.
You should really show us some up close photos on that setup when you get a chance. Did you just tear out the crossbar assembly that originally ran there or did you put in a single bar of some kind to have as much stength as the whole assembly combined?

Hood pins solve a few issues as well as provide a warning to someone that you reside in Sleeperville

Did you consider using LS2 truck bracket and coils? The truck coils mount to the upper half of the valve cover instead of the lower. I switched to those and it allowed me to fit all 4 coils in their proper spot instead of needing to modify the bracket or mount the coils elsewhere because of running into the master cylinder.
Here's how they look in mine:

Same as the 4.8, 5.3, 6.0 Truck block/coils that can be had for a dime, well maybe a dollar or two
Hey Modian where did you get your billet rails? For the life of me I can't remember where I got my kit. I recall it being under $150 and had everything.

With the hydro boost that has the accumulator on it ,makes it really tight and I don't think you could even fit the truck bracket or coils on there. I have a truck motor here and I looked really close at doing just that. Decided not too.
Re: It begins....
Just so you you know, the video does not do Doc's car justice. I heard that thing going all day today and when Eric took it for a shake down, it just growls like a pissed off cheetah, only faster.
Doc, you are in for a treat, this baby rocks.

Re: It begins....
Can't wait to get it! Just need the fine tuning on the dyno and A/C hoses.
I ordered the catch can and paid for overnight shipping, but the vendor didn't get it out today.
So it's not going to arrive till Thursday, which may be too late.
I may have to have Eric mail it back to me and I'll install it here...

Almost done. Catch can is mounted, car driven 100 miles this weekend without any problems.
AC is getting finished today, then it's on the dyno tomorrow for fine tuning.
Then on the truck back home to me!

Absolutely! I hope to hit an open track day on October 23rd with it as long as the weather is good.
With any luck I'll be able to drive it some before winter really hits and I have to put it away in the garage...

Arrangements for pick up made! Barring any last minute "uh-oh's" and successful tuning on the dyno today, the car will be picked up this evening and delivered to me tomorrow evening!

Re: It begins....
Little hiccup today with the A/C lines, but Eric was able to handle it. Car hit the dyno and got fine tuned. I was surprised at the results, lower than I expected at 338rwhp. I thought it was going to be in the 380-390's.
I'm wondering if the dyno was reading low and am praying that the compression on the motor is good. However Eric says it'll rip the tires loose at 40 mph in 3rd gear, so it sure sounds like it's making good power.
While this was quite a bit less than expected, it'll let me run the car in a lower time trial class. So instead of having to compete against 911 GT3's and C6 Corvette Z06's, I'll be able to kick the crap out of bone stock STI's, Evo's, 944S2's, E36 M3's, etc. So that's a good thing!
Car is getting loaded on the trailer tomorrow morning and I should have it home on Friday.

Re: It begins....
I wouldn't put too much stock in dyno readouts. What kind of dyno was it?
There's always little stuff--was the throttle opening all the way?
It took me almost a year to get my 944 sorted. You've got a big head-start with Eric doing the work, but there will always be little things to tweak here and there, especially with a car like these. It will be worth it, though

Re: It begins....
Pretty sure the throttle was opening all the way. On the initial tune Eric and the tuner noticed it was only getting 80% throttle, so they addressed it so it would get 100%.

Re: It begins....
What else did you guys do beside the cam and headers? What did your donor engine come out of?
Re: It begins....
'02 Camaro SS, so it has the LS6 intake manifold and throttle body. We did a straight shot intake, shorty headers, Thunder Racing 224 cam, dual 2.5" exhaust with cats.

Re: It begins....
I put my old car on a Land and Sea "Dyno-Mite" dyno. It made 346rwhp on a similar setup. I got teased about it a lot. The Mustang dynos just read really high, and the numbers you usually see come from those dynos. A poorly set up dyno can read just about anything, higher or lower.
I'd do a compression test, check all the plugs (see if you've got a dead coil or fouled injector), and if it all looks good, forget about the numbers. The performance will speak louder than any numbers ever will.
