I did take the ECM apart and paint it racing yellow after Phosphoric acid bath, there was a continuous butyl seal in the box, I'm not sure about the connector ends as I still don't have my harness back from Greg.

Connectors should have rubber seals on them. I can daily drive mine (well not anymore) and have driven in the rain before and had no issues. (except traction problems)

It's all water-resistant, but i put my down where the stock computer goes. It fits!

Any pics how you guys mounted it in the factory location?
Porsche really splurged on the plywood platform under there...

The computer needs to be where air can flow over it (hence its fin like appearance). On the vette, it is in the engine compartment near the DS firewall. Otherwise, it may overheat continually, shortening its life.

I agree LT....I'm thinking mounting it on it's side in the battery well with a compact battery...

Well it's either heat, or the elements. Mine has never had a problem down on the floor.

Anyone put an Odyssey compact Lightweight battery in their V8-944 to save space/weight?
I put one in my streetfighter bike and it was lightweight and more powerful than the lead-acid batteries.....
Would the CCA be ok on this one for the V8? ....15lbs!

I have been using an Optima Red top I relocated to the back seat since I didn't have enough cable to run to the very rear of the car. It works good.

Can I remove (get rid of) the cylindrical vacuum canister in the battery well? As of now I just have the air conditioning housing hooked up to that vacuum canister.....

dont know about that, I didnt have a/c, heat or emissions on my last body.

Scratch that, I'll leave that vacuum canister hooked up as I found a very quick way to install the ECM under the floor board and get rid of the bracket and plywood.... I used some super tough 2" thick Polyurethane Rubber foam and spray adhesive to make an ECM cradle....I'll take Porch's word that the ECM won't get hot under the carpet...sure won't get any hail damage for sure
Anyways it's set. I am leaving the battery well unmodded for a final mod mock-up later down the line....

Tech question....

I didn't have the MAP sensor come with the LS1 intake and I gave away the 5.3l intake (which I'm not sure had the 5.3 MAP sensor attached)

Question is....since I installed the LS1 intake, do I buy a new LS1 MAP sensor, It looks different in the pics....Or does it put out a different signal than the 5.3 MAP sensor.....

From pics it looks like the 5.3L MAP sensor can have 1 side of the attachment prongs cut off and clear the LS1 intake on the back side where it mounts (the 5.3 mounts on top)

EV-378 is used for a 100% bolt-on solution with Power rack outer ends to put the manual rack on late car offset.... Rennbay can whine all they want.....

The PCM and GM harness has 1 red wire that plugs to the top of the truck alternator....So do I disreguard the Blue wire from the 2-pin connector above old vacuum booster? (Large RED/Black stripe and Blue wire together)

Also how are you guys hooking up the Fuel pump? Are some of you using Old Porsche relay or wiring in new relays from the PCM? If running them off the PCM where did they go?

so what happen with the wire harness that greg has? you gonna get it back?

I'm working with SSP on a 1-off harness. I got the Multec2 fuel injector connections yesterday (4.8,5.3,6.0) and they are emailing the Fuel pump relay and low and high speed fan relay diagrams....the rest is plug "n" play.

I found this oil filter adapter that fits perfectly in the driver's side inner fender well and clears the headlight swingarm/stop.....
question is, will 3" diameter oil filter be ok for this swap? The inner port is "out" and the side port is "in"...
Does it matter which way the oil flows and from which ports on the Moroso 20140? I haven't seen this info posted anywhere....

I'm getting closer....got my beef on....the rears are 285-30-18 and the fronts are 225-40-18 on Turbo twist II's... I just put on what size tires came with these wheels on the Carrara 911's....
As you can see the RX7 caliper swap clears by 5 miles....

The rear rims protrude inwards by about 3/8" ....

And the outter face of them are nice and flat with the tire profile....I had to grind off the 2 torsion plate carrier studs and the back of the rim clears everything by 7mm with no spacers on the rear

For the fronts, I am going to run 8mm spacers only because the Hub dust/grease caps interfere with the inner TTII wheel machined area....If it weren't for that the Big Lexus LS430's still clear by 3/4"...

Harness is shipping today, with other parts. I should have never agreed to that, but everything you sent is intact, boxed up for the USPS.

Just confirming that the passenger side adapter is a "mirror" image of the driver's side....And a peculiar thing is the Factory Porsche Flag mirror base is almost 1" shorter on the passenger side...go figure.....

I found some stainless braided lines laying around that fit the Lexus brakes (M10 x 1.0) ....so I had to re-bleed....just crack out the BD 60ml syringe and see-through fuel line....

The 14 -pin connector on this car has a large Green wire that is not in the manual.... Also There is a large Red wire/blue stripe that says "not used"....
Question is my PCM harness has a 12v+ fused constant battery marked on 2 of the wires (one goes to OBDII outlet)...I'm wondering if the large red/blue stripe wire from the 14-pin connector will work?

I already hooked up the large Red/yellow 14-pin wire to the harness marked 12V+ switched....

Bump...anyone have an idea if the large Red/blue stripe wire is constant fused 12V+ ????

SSP wiring are good guys, they sent me Multec2 injector connections after I explained to them that 5.3 injectors could be used on the LS1 intake. Billet fuel rail and "standoff spacers" @ 1/2" tall on the rail studs does the trick.....

O.k....so where is the positive lead that goes back to the fuel pump? the schematic shows green/blk wire? I read Bridar's post but his car is a 968 mine is 85.5....any ideas as this is the only Porsche wire I will re-use for the entire swap?

Sorry, As of July 3rd, still no harness, VSS kit, nor Oil Filter Relocation kit from Greg....

My SSP harness is installed and done..... and I've ordered a filter relocation kit from Ebay....after that I can drive it to the exhaust shop..... I will build my own Billet VSS kit later......

I also disconnected the Green/blk hot wire directly at the rear fuel pump with a long wire lead to read continuity of the circuit....confirmed that it goes and connects to DRIVER'S SIDE of FUSE #34....So as I suspected, you either remove fuse #34 and use a single spade to jump it OR the Green/Blk wire at the 14-pin connector ties in under the fuse panel Very Happy (which is what I did)...

For the new PCM relay, I simply added a jumper connector (ON DRIVERS'S SIDE).... Wink

The fans were easy. Just tied in to the large RED/blk and Black/red wires in the loom right next to the driver's side strut tower.....
.................No More Porsche DME/Fuel pump relay or Fan relays........Happy Independence Day!

i dont remember it having an alarm, but look in secret places in that car, never know what ya gonna get.

Hey Folks, can I just stick a new PCV valve or a Filter in the rear driver's head and cap the throttle body and passenger's head PCV ports (2ea).... Or does the passenger head need to be vented?

We don't have emissions inpections here, I just want as little lines/tubes as possible....
