HOW TO DO AN ADVANCED SEARCH.

Mon Jul 08, 2013 3:56 pm by Admin

For the benefit of 944Hybrids users there are two search functions available for you to use.
The purpose of this sticky is to explain the "Advanced Search" function because it is much more powerful and is the best choice when researching information.

When you log on to the site a list of options is shown in a line at the top of the page. One option is labelled "Search", use this option (NOT the search box lower down on the right).

After you click on the upper search option, a drop down box appears. At the bottom of this box is a radio button marked "Advanced …

I'll start by saying hello to everyone and how nice it is to have a forum that's dedicated to these swaps. The amount of reading that I've done has been overwhelming. It's nice to have more information than I could possibly process at my disposal to help steer me in a direction that will work best for me.

A couple years ago I was lucky enough to find an S2 in the color combo (blue/linen) that I had been looking for at a price that was cheaper ever expected. It was your typical 944 that had deferred maintenance and was screaming to be a project car. I started this project by doing all the basic maintenance to get the car on the road and enjoy it for awhile. For around a year I was able to enjoy the car and used it as a daily driver. During this time I was hoping for a major mechanical problem that would take the car off the road and give me a reason to start the swap.

In August I was lucky enough to get my wish, the clutch let go on the way to work. Since then I've gotten my basic plan laid out and have started to collect parts. I've also pulled the old engine and sold it to fund the purchase price and then some of the replacement engine. The L33 arrived the other day and I can't wait to pick up another piece of the puzzle. I'm going to slowly collect parts and hopefully I'll have almost everything I need by the end of the year. That gives me a couple months to put it all together and have it on the road next spring. When it's complete I plan on using it as a daily driver for a little while and then turning it into a dedicated track car at some point. In the mean time, I'm hoping to track down a couple of you local guys so I can see a finished swap.

Nice platform to start with, good color too. Welcome, just a warning, this is an addiction! Smile

Pretty car! Is there a Dan Hussey on the list of previous owners? I'm in Ballard if you want to see mine. It's a track car so it doesn't get out much. Good luck with your conversion.

Thank you. I'm jumping into this project knowing how much of an addiction this can be. In the past I've let things get a little bit out of control during a build, but I keep telling myself this time it will be different.

I don't know the names of any of the previous owners, but I can't imagine there were a ton of this color combo in our area. I really do want to see your car at some point. I've been following your build thread and you've built a very nice car. Will you be doing any more track days this year?

Really nice looking car, i love that color. For the long time RL folk, 944Pete had a beautiful S2 that was the same color with a set of wheels form Kahn if i remember right.. that car was my desktop background for a long time. Had the pleasure to see it in person a few years ago when a fellow in NJ bought it.

Maybe. I hope to hit some of the test-n-tune days at PR in Auburn. But it'll depend on timing with the projects I have planned for the winter: transmission, valve springs, etc. I'll shoot you a PM if I plan a day out.
