LT1 mounts for engine hoist?
Hey guys, I have my engine at work, now I have a hoist. I think you can bolt mounts for a chain somewhere on the engine, but a quick google search didn't pull anything up. Anybody know where I can get some, and where I can mount them to lift the engine?
Re: LT1 mounts for engine hoist?
For example, here are bluehellfire666's pics, are these just home made plates?

Re: LT1 mounts for engine hoist?
yes, these are home made plates. Barry, the guy that helped with with this build took some plates of metal and blew some holes in them with a torch. this was the easiest and quickest seemingly safe solution that we could think of. I guess if you wanted to you might be able to make some plates that bolted to the top holes where the bellhousing bolts go...and then find something on the front that would balance it out, but it seemed to me that there aren't a whole ton of options when trying to find places to lift from.
Another option is to get solid motor mounts (the actual bent plate that attaches to the engine) put a bolt through them and attach there, but you may have trouble balance the engine front to rear.
hope this helps!

Yeah it does, actually after seeing your pics, I did find a few references to using the holes on the side of the heads through various different means to lift, so that is what I'll be doing. Thanks-

Hey, you don't happen to know what size bolts go in the side of the heads do you?
Re: LT1 mounts for engine hoist?
hmmmm, off the top of my head i can't remember, but i'm pretty sure it's the same as most of the bolts on the block...you can probably steal one from somewhere else and test the thread pattern
