HOW TO DO AN ADVANCED SEARCH.
Mon Jul 08, 2013 3:56 pm by Admin
For the benefit of 944Hybrids users there are two search functions available for you to use.
The purpose of this sticky is to explain the "Advanced Search" function because it is much more powerful and is the best choice when researching information.
When you log on to the site a list of options is shown in a line at the top of the page. One option is labelled "Search", use this option (NOT the search box lower down on the right).
After you click on the upper search option, a drop down box appears. At the bottom of this box is a radio button marked "Advanced …

They look great. How do they fit?
Care to have them reproduced?

Re: My Header Solution
wow, those do look good. They look like longer primaries than others I've seen, maybe its just me. Haven't ever seen a set in person.....yet. I'll get soon hopefully.
Are the welds just tacks in those pics?

Re: My Header Solution
Nice job. Can you show them installed? What size are those collectors? 1 3/4" primaries?

Those collectors are huge! If you could find something smaller i think you'd have a winner right there (mainly just for ground clearance/tucking them tight under the car).

Re: My Header Solution
They clear on my car well, I can get installed pics tonight or tomorrow. The only issue is actually on the passenger side, I actually built them from the rear cyl forward, after I had installed my second one from the front I realized that it would have been better to switch them in the collector but i didnt have anything at home to cut the tack welds. It sits about 1/8 to 1/16 of an inch from the old motor mount pocket on the crossmember. I have them here at work today, and may cut the first two back apart and redo it tonight. And they are just tacked right now. I would like to fit them to a stock crossmembered car before I would have them reproduced, I believe clearance would be even better, but i have modified my crossmember Heavily. I will get pics installed tonight to clarify.
They are 1-3/4 Primaries into a 2-1/2 collector, I lucked into those High-velocity collectors from a friend that had them laying around, VERY nice collectors.
Luke714 You hit the nail on the head for why i built these, I wanted a long tube header, to try and move the power higher in the RPM's, but also wanted the larger primaries than RH offers (and the much Larger price tag)

Re: My Header Solution
Before you weld that #7 primary solid, make sure whatever Brake MC set-up you will use fits. I Re-tucked mine for even more clearance before my welder did the show with a TIG.

Re: My Header Solution
Heres a link to my photobucket album, i snapped about 60 pics and didnt have a lot of time to flip through them so there are some duds... It gives you a good idea, you can see the passenger side front primary is sitting against the crossmember, I can clearance that once the engine is out with my die grinder. I was thinking about redoing the first two primaries on that side but decided to leave well enough alone.

Re: My Header Solution
Are those Kooks collectors? Nice scavenging spike. Have you considered getting these squared away and letting Greg reproduce them? With 3" collectors of course.

Sorry I missed your post, I am actually really happy with the collectors, They sit flush with my oil pan only the flanges hang down and those are getting cut off for slip fit clamps, i origonally wanted to angle the collectors more to the center of the car where the collectors currently sit straight but didnt have the bends in my kit and that can easily be remedied by a 45 deg bend immediatly out of the collectors. I appreciate the kind words.

I am unsure of the brand of collectors, a friend of mine had them left over from a set of headers he sold. I would take it as a huge compliment if Greg wanted to reproduce them, I would need to tweak the passenger side front two primaries, and then send them to someone to have them fit to a factory crossmembered car before I would be comfortable with there fit. And whoever did end up doing the reproductions would have to clean up the pipes going into the collectors, my collectors are actually for 1-7/8 primaries, so some of them dont go in exactly square, I can fix that on mine when i weld them. I origonally had collectors for 3" but realized i was going to have clearance issues putting 2- 3" pipes in the tunnel side by side, I think my 2-1/2 pipes will stack fine. Thanks for the kind words, your car has been an inspiration while building my car.
Thank you 944-LT1 also for the compliments, I really apprecaite it.
