HOW TO DO AN ADVANCED SEARCH.

Mon Jul 08, 2013 3:56 pm by Admin

For the benefit of 944Hybrids users there are two search functions available for you to use.
The purpose of this sticky is to explain the "Advanced Search" function because it is much more powerful and is the best choice when researching information.

When you log on to the site a list of options is shown in a line at the top of the page. One option is labelled "Search", use this option (NOT the search box lower down on the right).

After you click on the upper search option, a drop down box appears. At the bottom of this box is a radio button marked "Advanced …

the factory roof panel with sun roof will be getting removed I made a mold to make a new carbon fiber roof. over the years I installed a few others have made and wasn't to happy with quality or fitment. making our own I can fix what I didn't like about the other peoples.

we were able to find a good used LS3 with low miles at a very good price.
it came with the wiring ECU and pedal. I'm ditching the wiring and things and got an install kit with new wiring pedal and ecu.
the engine with the factory semi dry sump just doesn't work if it was a true full dry sump it would.
I swapped the front cover oil pump and other items for a wet sump. the wet sump pan we got seams to be very good quality. we are also going with a dual air oil separator.

because we did dual masters for the brake system the factory wipers will no longer work with the masters now in the way. to get around this I picked up a gen one VW Scirocco single wiper with moron and linkage.

this GT nose is not offered with cutouts for head lights. i made my own headlight assemblies for the car. I used the factory headlight covers for molding the clear covers for the nose.
if your wondering about the quality of the GT parts fitment it's bad in fact it's worse than bad!!!
this is not the 1st time I have been to the GT parts party. in my shop we have installed a number of there parts on many different models of Porsches and every time it was lots of work to get them to fit. the nose was so bad where it meets the doors I ended up just cutting most of it off and remaking them.

GT parts are not so great. I would appreciate a little more information on how you complete that light process.

Plan on doing the same. I have a similar build.

making the headlights was pretty straight forward.
for the headlight buckets that's just aluminum I bent and riveted together to make the buckets and the brackets to mount the separate high and low beam lights . the lights themselves are just high intensity driving lights.

I used the stock 944 headlight doors for the pattern for the cutouts on the FG nose. I added 1/2" all the way around the stock headlight doors when I cutout the opening. the 1/2 was so I would have a lip to mount the lean covers to. to make the lip for the covers was easy I laid up some FG stripes and molded them to the underside of the nose. the thickness of the nose was just a little thicker than the lean covers so I sanded the nose down a bit so they would match .

being the clear covers had to be the 1/2" bigger all the way around that the stock headlight doors I couldn't use the headlight doors to vacuum form the covers.
before I molded in the mounting lip to the nose for the covers I made cardboard boxes and hot glued them to the undersides of the headlight opening. this was to pour plaster into to make the molds for the headlights. the plaster is soft and easy to sand and sculpt to the shape if the nose panel.
I then heated up the lexan and vacuum molded the two covers.
I made my own vacuum box to do the covers it was easy and low cost to make the vacuum box.

all the wiring is just about finished. the old factory wiring was no good so I pulled it all out. I still need to wire in the AIM MXP dash .
