For the benefit of 944Hybrids users there are two search functions available for you to use.
The purpose of this sticky is to explain the "Advanced Search" function because it is much more powerful and is the best choice when researching information.
When you log on to the site a list of options is shown in a line at the top of the page. One option is labelled "Search", use this option (NOT the search box lower down on the right).
After you click on the upper search option, a drop down box appears. At the bottom of this box is a radio button marked "Advanced …

will have a video soon to hear mine on first fire next month (part 1 of 2)
comp cam 222/224 112LSA on '97 5.7L LS1 with TPC tubular manifold to patriot collectors to 4" flex joints that go to flowmaster 2.5"/3.0" y scavenger pipe all the way back to my S type borla 350 which is supposed to be made for this engine so no drone and just good throaty sound.
Borla has 3 models touring which seems to be somewhat quiet but present at WOT, and then S type which is middle of the road and definitely heard at idle and anxious at WOT, and then they have the ATAK series which is just obnoxious at all levels I think.
I truthfully haven't heard any of these in person just found that based on my research and dimensions that it was going to be a great fit. And after building the exhaust myself with my fluxcore welder I can verify the fit was quite good.
some pictures for show and tell.

Re: Muffler choice opinions
I typically use the Magnaflow mufflers. Not real loud, but have a deep throaty sound. The Borla type s mufflers are too loud and raspy sounding. Almost every one of my clients that had the borla, hated them. I have almost brand new borlas here that i've removed for better sounding mufflers

Oh no...
Hmmm well looks like I might be validating my known reputation on the block for loud and obnoxious vehicles with my crate muffler 350 even with the middle of the road s type.
Whooops.
Too late now it's mine and no returns. See what happens on fire up, worst case I add a resonator to pull it back to touring noise levels....

One last question
Bob, have you specifically had the crate muffler 350 as an s type with part number 400840?
Or is it just that you have had many borlas to date and none of them were liked or worked?
Prepping myself for potentially having to swap out if I don't like it either... Lol

Guess I got a raspy one....
Lol your part number is merely the offset on inlet and center on outlet and is an s type, whereas I took dual offset to match factory placement.
So you definitely have had the exact same one. Maybe my flowmaster will help scavenge and tame the rasp to be liveable?
Oh well just try it and see, worst case get a second muffler. Lol

This is what I found. There is a 200k ohm variable pententiometer (tested bad btw)wired to tach. 1. anyone ever seen this? and would this being bad be cause for
non working tach? 2.fyi working backup cluster also does not work and has no tach bounce. 3. Plan to replace pententiometer w new same and see. Other thoughts?
