For the benefit of 944Hybrids users there are two search functions available for you to use.
The purpose of this sticky is to explain the "Advanced Search" function because it is much more powerful and is the best choice when researching information.
When you log on to the site a list of options is shown in a line at the top of the page. One option is labelled "Search", use this option (NOT the search box lower down on the right).
After you click on the upper search option, a drop down box appears. At the bottom of this box is a radio button marked "Advanced …

Depowered steering racks
After having completed two power steering racks this week, I'm not going to machine or produce bolt-on kits due to the shims needing different dimensions. That said, I will provide the service with a 10 day turn around on your power rack for $200 plus shipping. Or $300 plus ship. with no core. Just PM

I use precision depth mics to get exact dimensions needed for the lockout shims needed and machine be-cu to fit each one...

I sourced stronger rack preload springs and install with a billet cover...

Unfortunately, it's not broken links. Photobucket wants $40 a month for people to post and share pictures on forums. Sometimes you can find lower quality versions of Rob's pictures on google image searches. Otherwise, we lost a ton of good data from Rob recently due to photobucket locking his account.

you can actually view his albums. if you go over the photobucket and click on the user name above the pic itll take you to the main album, and you can view them. be careful though, there is so many ads and pop ups its rediculous.

Thanks Sharkey, I might go look at some old pics now that I know how
I modded a few of the power racks and their shims have to be equal on both sides so there is no play in the steering.
I have a few billet covers left if you want to shim your own...

Re: Depowered steering racks
Just out of curiosity, for those that have done both manual and powered, do you prefer both manual steering and manual brakes, manual steering but retaining power brakes, or power both? I have the hydroboost system in mine, so eliminating the power steering, I would still have to maintain the powersteering system for the brakes. It only eliminates 2 hoses in this case. But I can see eliminating the whole system being very beneficial in such a tight engine bay... It would make changing spark plugs easier for sure! Haha.
