HOW TO DO AN ADVANCED SEARCH.

For the benefit of 944Hybrids users there are two search functions available for you to use.
The purpose of this sticky is to explain the "Advanced Search" function because it is much more powerful and is the best choice when researching information.

When you log on to the site a list of options is shown in a line at the top of the page. One option is labelled "Search", use this option (NOT the search box lower down on the right).

After you click on the upper search option, a drop down box appears. At the bottom of this box is a radio button marked "Advanced …

Good Day Everyone

I am looking to have the front crossmember for my 944 modified to have the center section removable. Or if there are any out there that are already modified for sale I would consider purchasing.

I had a member here that I recall lived within a cple hours of Cleveland OH(where I live) that sent me a pic of his modified crossmember and some of his car. If by chance anyone knows this car can you please pm me the contact info?

Thanks,
Ed

It cracks all the time and that's with the stock 951 motor. There's NO way I'd ever install one in my car.

What cracks? The stock crossmember you mean? Or as a result of making it 3 pc?

The Lindsey Racing one cracks.

I also wouldn't hack up the stock one. Why invite disaster?

What are people using for a crossmember? Is there an aftermarket one that is not prone to cracking?

We use the stock one. Works great. Doesn't crack.

How do you take your motor out? I thought that center piece needed to come out to slide the motor forward off the shaft? Or do you pull the shaft out the back somehow?

Thanks for all the help here...I am trying to get mine together and am new to this.

to pull the motor get the engine on the engine hoist, unbolt the mounts, unbolt the subframe and let it hang, pull the motor forward and out. or if you have a hoist, set the subframe down on a furniture dolly or something similar, unbolt the subframe, pull the motor forward and lift the car up.
