For the benefit of 944Hybrids users there are two search functions available for you to use.
The purpose of this sticky is to explain the "Advanced Search" function because it is much more powerful and is the best choice when researching information.
When you log on to the site a list of options is shown in a line at the top of the page. One option is labelled "Search", use this option (NOT the search box lower down on the right).
After you click on the upper search option, a drop down box appears. At the bottom of this box is a radio button marked "Advanced …

Help Identify this Torque Tube
I got a cut down torque tube through a junkyard to mock up my bellhousing on my 4g63 swap. I got this in the mail....it was supposed to be for a early 85 944 NA.
The splines are too long and the pilot bearing surface is too long as well?
Any ideas what this came from?

Re: Help Identify this Torque Tube
Looks like it's an automatic (has recess for circlip used to keep rubber damper quiet) ...should be able to use it with a 5 speed but not vice versa (can't easily use 5 speed torque tube with an automatic).
Also looks like the drive shaft has been pulled forward a few inches...weird.

Re: Help Identify this Torque Tube
Yeah...I had him cut the torque tube to 24" just so I could used it for mock up. I asked to to include 2 of the support bearings so I think he just hammered everything forward.
I Im'd the junkyard guy and he said it came out of a manual car and he didn't even think of looking at the c-clip groove till I pointed it out. He said he would cut another and send it if i needed it. the pilot bushing is pretty worn out so I will probably have him ship another so i can get the engagement right

Re: Help Identify this Torque Tube
I have the Torque tube and shaft dimensions posted here somewhere. The spline engagement is critical as well as pilot input.

Yep I have those dims...mainly I wanted to know where this came from so I could talk to the junk yard guy in case he gave me a hard time.
That's why I bought this mock up tue is to double check the pilot bearing engagment.
