HOW TO DO AN ADVANCED SEARCH.

For the benefit of 944Hybrids users there are two search functions available for you to use.
The purpose of this sticky is to explain the "Advanced Search" function because it is much more powerful and is the best choice when researching information.
When you log on to the site a list of options is shown in a line at the top of the page. One option is labelled "Search", use this option (NOT the search box lower down on the right).
After you click on the upper search option, a drop down box appears. At the bottom of this box is a radio button marked "Advanced …

Best 944 for and LS1 Swap?
Hi,
New here and am having a great time exploring all of this great information. A huge thank you in advance.
I started into looking at a v8 swap into a 914 and realized that there were so many other upgrades needed in order to make it a safe and complete deal. So I started looking at other Porsche models for a better platform (not to mention a decade newer sheet metal, frame, etc). I like the 928, but really like the 944.
I'm pretty comfortable with the mechanical aspects of the swap, but get really worried about the electrical stuff. Splicing harnesses, sensors, gauges, etc can be a pain for me and a possible show stopper.
So, my question is: What combination of 944 year/model and LS1 source make for the easiest swap?
Follow up to that: What additional parts are recommended. Remember, electrically challenged. Stand alone harness, LS1 to Porsche dashboard black box?
Thanks again,
Doug

I was the same, worried most about the electrical. So I paid the extra for a Painless harness that was a complete standalone setup with a great installation manual. I had to do 10 or 12 interconnections with the car's wiring and it all works great.

I would agree with the others, but if you like a challenge try the conversion with an 83/84

Don't be scared of the electronics. Making a harness stand alone is just removing what you don't need. All the information and schematics to make a relay/fusebox are on this site or LT1swap.com. I used a 2004 GTO motor. It has some better parts than the earlier LS motors and still uses a cable operated throttle. As far as the donor, the turbo cars, as previously mentioned, have better ratio transaxles and bigger brakes than the NA cars.
