Throw out bearing travel (how much is enough)

Hey Folks
I have measured my throw out bearing travel at about 1/2 ". The clutch disc does disengage from the pressure plate. Not by much, but it is loose. I am running stock pressure plate and throw out from '99 camero, stock 944 rebuilt clutch master.
Should I put in a larger master to get more travel or wait and see how it works with engine running (about 2 months off) ?
I don't want to increase my pedal force with a larger diameter master if I don't have too. I know most of you guys are running bigger clutches but I am just building a driver (for now).

13/16" Wilwood. From experience the Factory PP fingers are taller than the Centerforce PP finger and require more throw/MC volume.

With the clutch pushed in, reach up inside the torque tube bellhousing and try to spin the shaft. If it spins freely you're good.

I would say to go ahead and do the clutch master now, while you have the slave out of the car (which makes bleeding a lot easier). Even for a daily driver with a stock clutch the Porsche 3/4" master just isn't enough.

I have a 7/8 and it's a bit much, i think you could get away with a 13/16 as xschop said. I have a CNC brand and it's very nice--i wore out two of the "compact" Wilwood/Tilton ones in the 30k miles or so that i have on the car.

1/2" should be enough travel. But something I notice is that while I get that much with a fresh bleed of the clutch hydraulics, after a session or two of hard running on the track I'm down to more like 1/3" and that's not enough to get good release of the clutch disc. I end up getting a lot of gear clash on up shifts. So I've been having to bleed my clutch in the paddock a couple times during a track day.

I'm running a 1" compact Wilwood master in a Tilton pedal box. The slave has the proper casting number and I've got a remote bleeder on there. It's a complete SPEC clutch package with the shim installed after getting all of the correct measurements. When the gear clash develops, I notice that my clutch pedal is not fully returning. I can lift it up but then the first bit of it's travel is very easy and clearly does nothing underneath. It's like the slave cylinder is hanging up and not fully returning into it's seat. Giving it a quick pressure bleed fixes it.

Also of note is that I get brackish fluid out even after just 1 hour of use. This seems to be common or even normal for the LS1 slave cylinder.

Any ideas how to clear this up?
