For the benefit of 944Hybrids users there are two search functions available for you to use.
The purpose of this sticky is to explain the "Advanced Search" function because it is much more powerful and is the best choice when researching information.

When you log on to the site a list of options is shown in a line at the top of the page. One option is labelled "Search", use this option (NOT the search box lower down on the right).

After you click on the upper search option, a drop down box appears. At the bottom of this box is a radio button marked "Advanced …

"Le Mans" wide body kit ? Empty "Le Mans" wide body kit ?

Post  Marc948GTR Mon Nov 05, 2012 7:18 am

Hi,

As anyone bought or seen up close the "Le Mans" wide body kit sold on the porsche944 store website?

Pictures on the site is from the actual 924 at the Porsche museum !

Tried to contact them but without success.

Anyone ordered anything from them lately ?

Thanks

It's interesting because the wide body nose and "968 flares" are the same ones that I have, which is Albert Broadfoot's wide body kit. Google Broadfoot racing as they have other kits.

If you want a reliable body part company try GTRacing. They have been around a long time. Not cheap, but you get what you pay for.

You can find pictures of my car on the link below.

Thanks Marc,

I know both of these companies but they don't seem to match the actual 924 GTR look I'm after.

GT Racing seems to be the closest with it's Carrera GTR parts, but the rear quarters have a curved upper portion at the back (I have pictures of the actuel GTR in my gallery).

Are you happy with the Broadfoot GT2 parts ?
How wide are your wheels/ tires with these flares ?

After looking at your photos, you've done quite a few of my "to-do" list.

Actually picked up an 1986 951 transaxle last weekend (need to do the 5th gear swap, LSD and oil cooler).
On your parts list, you have fitting listed for oil drain and filler plugs, but these actually run from the actual stock cooler locations (16mm tube) !

I assume the 951 unit as a inner gear oil pump, I think I may be missing parts on my unit.
Is there a way to verify ?

Questions concerning your brakes setup:
You seem to have a firewall reinforcing plate and a support to the master cyclinder bracket, why ?
What master cylinder do you have ?
GT3 brakes front and back ?

Marc

The parts were well made, the fitting was very good, but I did not bond the flares and skirts. I used nutserts and hexheads to hold flares and skirts on. Didn't care about small gaps here and there. The kit was painted separately and bolted up afterward

Wheels are 18x10 with 295s all the way around. I am maxed out on the front, the rear could go much bigger.

Some of the '86 boxes did not have an oil cooler loop so you would need to install a pump. I think you can install the internal pump parts in a tranny that did not have one from the factory. If you go with an aftermarket diff it may or may not work with the internal pump. My Quaife unit did not work with the internal gear that runs the pump so I had to go external. If you can get an internal pump working you can plumb it like the pictures linked below because that is what I did with a spare transmission.

I did not use the plate because it did not conform to the firewall and caused a problem with the clutch master. I think somewhere I posted pictures of my brace. The '86 and older cars have firewall flexing problems. I have heard that the newer cars don't have the problem, but I might be wrong. The removal of the brake booster exacerbates the problem because you have to push harder on the brake pedal.

What master cylinder do you have ?

Cardone Part number is 112299 for a reman unit for the 750 V12 for 1988

GT3 brakes front and back ?

Front only, stock '86 turbo in the rear with brake bias dial on the dash.

How much bigger ? 12" or even 14" ?

Did you have to modify the fender lips or rear quarters ?

Thanks.
