For the benefit of 944Hybrids users there are two search functions available for you to use.
The purpose of this sticky is to explain the "Advanced Search" function because it is much more powerful and is the best choice when researching information.
When you log on to the site a list of options is shown in a line at the top of the page. One option is labelled "Search", use this option (NOT the search box lower down on the right).
After you click on the upper search option, a drop down box appears. At the bottom of this box is a radio button marked "Advanced …

Pressure plate hitting bellhousing
Hey Folks,
Looking for some advice with a Porsche LS1 swap. I have just put my engine back in for the third and last time hopefully and have found that my clutch is hitting the inside of the bell housing about 2" in and had about a 1/4" gap left to go.
I am using a Corvette auto bell housing #12551118, Flywheel #12554130 and just a standard Perfection reman. pressure plate (was going to go with better clutch but motor is stock and just wanted to get conversion done for now).
I have found suggestions saying to use LS2 flywheel but not sure what combination of flywheel/clutch would be best. Apparently I need something a little more low profile, at least at the outer perimeter of the pressure plate in order to clear the inside of the bell housing.
Any help would be great.
For those of you who have used this bell housing what combination have you used ?
Thanks

Re: Pressure plate hitting bellhousing
YOU MUST USE A MANUAL BELL HOUSING, THAT IS ALL THERE IS TO IT.
The $20 automatic will not work on the LS swap.

Speedsterman,
Best advice I can give you as a newbie is to really research this site before you buy any parts for your swap. The bellhousing situation has been addressed a number of times. If in doubt ask questions.
Here are the results af a search for "bellhousing"

Re: Pressure plate hitting bellhousing
Thanks for the reply.
Why do I see references to this bell housing being utilized with 12" clutches?
I can start over with a manual housing if thats the only way it will work. Just wanted to be sure.
With a manual housing what flywheel and clutch works best?
I currently have a clutch disc from Mcleod 11.75"/
Thanks
