WTB 944 Shell >> IS NOW FOR SALE!

Hey guys,

I am looking to buy a shell or a parts car (preferrably red) 85 and up, with a clean and clear title! I bought a 944 from a well known local auction company and now the car "wont come with a title" and I have no way to title the thing in the state of wisconsin, the car runs, I have a bill of sale if anyone wants to see it to verify its legit, but I want to do an LSX swap, but I can't do it on a car that cannot be titled.

If it suddenly won't come with title, I'd tell them you dont' want it. If they dont' disclose something like that at the time of auction, you shouldn't be obligated to purchase. If you want to do an lsx conversion you may as well start with a roller to begin with. Just transfering hte vin plates over may not work so well, and if you ever decide to sell it, you either won't get much due to mismatched title, or I feel sorry if you don't disclose the history. Either way it's going to be a huge nightmare for the rest of the life of the car if you're unable to obtain a title, and don't plan to use it purely as a parts car.

Well its my fault, aparently I wasn't paying attention and didn't see that on the paperwork it said that. I have had the car for 5 months I just got around to looking at it.

I want to buy a roller and turn that car into a parts car is what I want to do.

Can you not "buy" a scrap car that's going in a crusher and transfer the VIN number to your car.
Is that legal???

I am sure I could, but I haven't "found" one yet.... not sure. I have a second car that is an 87' I might just bite the bullet and get rid of this one for the parts. Sad part is it runs and drives great! I am still trying to contact the previous owner to see if they have the title.

If you know the previous owner, can they be asked to obtain a duplicate title?

Yes I am trying to contact them to get them to either give me the original title or get a duplicate one and sell it to me, but so far no luck

This vary's state to state. A lot of states I know it's not legal to transfer vin plates. However there's the whole "will i get caught" argument that can be had as well. So long as you aren't interfering with someone elses vin/title, chances are you won't be caught. Either way, it's a crappy situation.

Well the car is up for sale. It is a 1985 red Porsche 944, has about 75k on it, runs great, I have a bill of sale to prove I legally own the car, it cannot be titled in Wisconsin and I bought another 944 to do my LSX swap into. Selling the car for parts only to help fund buying the swap kit from Eric at TPC.

Any questions please ask! Willing to part out if someone wants to buy a lot of the parts, would rather get rid of the whole car. looking to get around 1500.
