HOW TO DO AN ADVANCED SEARCH.
Mon Jul 08, 2013 3:56 pm by Admin
For the benefit of 944Hybrids users there are two search functions available for you to use.
The purpose of this sticky is to explain the "Advanced Search" function because it is much more powerful and is the best choice when researching information.
When you log on to the site a list of options is shown in a line at the top of the page. One option is labelled "Search", use this option (NOT the search box lower down on the right).
After you click on the upper search option, a drop down box appears. At the bottom of this box is a radio button marked "Advanced …

Ok, the all known question..."Exotic sounding exhaust"
Hello,
Ok everybody, I know everyone is always asking the question, "How do I make my LS1 sound exotic?". Well I am one of those people who want to know if anyone has ever gotten close and what did they use? I have researched these options:
1. 180 degree headers (which IMO would work the best at replicating the sound but there may not be enough room)
2. Using "european" cats and mufflers
3. Some have said that titanium has a sound all its own, I do know that Tubi, which makes exhausts systems for Ferrari, Lamborghini, and the like uses ti.
4. And then there is the cheapo muffler from Dr. Gas. Look it up, it is a "frequency modifying" muffler.
Other than that, I am stumped. Since I am in the military for the time being and I have an unknown amount of deployments ahead of me I have enough money to possibly buy a custom 180 degree setup. I like that option the most since it will probably give me the results I am looking for, but again, I don't think there is enough room for that. So, again, if anyone has any advice or any suggestions for me I would be very appreciative.
Thank You,

I think the sound you are looking for is primarily from engines with a flat-plane crank.

Re: Ok, the all known question..."Exotic sounding exhaust"
well, I like the 2nd video, the 1st would be better if he wasn't WOT, if anyone knows that guy and could possibly get a drive-by video that would be great. I know about the flat plane cranks as well and have looked into having one fabricated but kinda put it off when I saw the price tag that a custom crank would come with.
I guess what I am looking for is a high pitched exhaust without any type of lopeyness from the cam. If I can get that then I will be fine.
Thanks for the info guys/gals, I am always looking for more.
And thanks Michael, but like I tell anyone else, it is just another job...well...until we deploy, then there really isn't anything like it, but I appreciate it.

The piston bore size has something to do with the pitch of the exhaust. A large bore V8 has a particular sound embrace it. If you don't want a lopey sound stay with the stock cam.

This is the closest that I have found to the sound that I want. If you search for 944 hybrid on youtube you will see what I want my car to sound like.

I plan on at least attempting to build 180* headers whenever I go down the V8 route.
