HOW TO DO AN ADVANCED SEARCH.

For the benefit of 944Hybrids users there are two search functions available for you to use.
The purpose of this sticky is to explain the "Advanced Search" function because it is much more powerful and is the best choice when researching information.
When you log on to the site a list of options is shown in a line at the top of the page. One option is labelled "Search", use this option (NOT the search box lower down on the right).
After you click on the upper search option, a drop down box appears. At the bottom of this box is a radio button marked "Advanced …

Tubular Cross Member option?
Hey everyone, been reading this site for a year or so now on and off and finally pulled the trigger on a 951 that I plan to put an LS1 in.
I was considering the standard TPC install kit, but I am now intrigued by the custom cross member TPC made, but can't find any further information on it after this thread:

Was it ever tested with an LSx motor, and how about fitting in a 951? This cross member seems like a much better way of installing a V8 and seems to work around a lot of the problems had with other swaps.
Any information here? I tried emailing TPC but have not received a reply and I can't PM Admin as I have too low of a post count.
Thanks,
-Brian

As far as fit is concerned all 944/968 share the same crossmember bolt patterns on the frame so it will bolt into ANY 944/968.

Thanks.
I could not find this xmember on the TPC website. Am I missing it? Was it ever put into production or is it a custom bit?

Re: Tubular Cross Member option?
I made the cross member as an alternative to the oil pan conversion. Now that I have a very good oil pan builder I no longer make or sell the cross members.
Re: Tubular Cross Member option?
Okay, that makes sense. So do you feel the current kit is the best way to go about the swap now, or is it just more cost effective? I know there were some other possible advantages brought up in that thread including no need to run xmember spacers, a possibility to run a different steering rack aswell as getting the motor to sit lower in the car.
Thanks for the answers. Starting to gather all my parts now and would rather be certain on what is the best route.

I think all the worry over the cross spacers are overdone. I am using Admins uprights and setback plates and can get by with .25in spacers. I did have to cut the hood brace/rib.
