HOW TO DO AN ADVANCED SEARCH.

Mon Jul 08, 2013 3:56 pm by Admin

For the benefit of 944Hybrids users there are two search functions available for you to use.
The purpose of this sticky is to explain the "Advanced Search" function because it is much more powerful and is the best choice when researching information.

When you log on to the site a list of options is shown in a line at the top of the page. One option is labelled "Search", use this option (NOT the search box lower down on the right).

After you click on the upper search option, a drop down box appears. At the bottom of this box is a radio button marked "Advanced …

manual steering - Xschop's 5.3 LM7 build - Page 17 Empty vette trans

Post  kevin924kevin Tue Nov 13, 2012 7:40 am

It takes a little bit of work to install the vette trans. I am in the process of doing so, but still using the porsche running gear, where Admin is using the vette suspension complete in the rear. A little cut here and cut there, but it will be worth the effort in the end for the low rpms at hwy speeds. It also allows a host of easy to change gear choices. My trans is a 342 but will change to the 271 for hwy cruising.

In looking at your thread it looks like alot more than a little cut here or there!

Lots of fabrication work, it'll give a good result, but it's far past my abilities and I don't feel the gains are worth it for me to pay someone to do it for me.

Fact: The Vette 6-speed turns 1475 RPM doing 70mph WITH 3.43 differential. This is why I'm starting the 926-LS build soon. Stronger trans better gears for the V8 and 930 axles to boot. Very Happy

The 944-Vette trans takes dedication and time. I like what Kevin is doing and keeping the 944 suspension.

That Vette 6th is tall!

My 0.68 5th from a mid-80's Audi 5000 diesel gets me about 2200 at 70mph. iirc, I think I was at 2900-3000 with the original Turbo 5th.

Just imagine how low the rpms will drop with the 271 ratio. xschop sorry this should not be clouding up your thread.

Hey Billy, do you know if this car ever had a factory alarm?

I also disconnected the Green/blk hot wire directly at the rear fuel pump with a long wire lead to read continuity of the circuit....confirmed that it goes and connects to DRIVER'S SIDE of FUSE #34....So as I suspected, you either remove fuse #34 and use a single spade to jump it OR the Green/Blk wire at the 14-pin connector ties in under the fuse panel Very Happy (which is what I did)...

For the new PCM relay, I simply added a jumper connector (ON DRIVERS'S SIDE).... Wink

The fans were easy. Just tied in to the large RED/blk and Black/red wires in the loom right next to the driver's side strut tower.....

I made some adapters to put RX7 calipers on the rear. They work great with factory 951 rear rotors, you just have to trim a small area of the caliper to fit.
I have a set of those adapters if you're interested I'll let go for $115 shipped.

Rob,

If possible could you PM me with your new contact information? (211lotus) My project is just getting started after I purchased your adapter and motor mounts two years ago. I have a question regarding the size of bolts to used to attach the bellhousing to the adapter and the adapter to the torque tube. I tried your e-mail but it wouldn't go through.

On my C5 adapter plate, you need 7/16-14 tpi Allen studs that are 1.5" long.
The BH bolts IIRC take M10x 1.5 x 40mm long
