For the benefit of 944Hybrids users there are two search functions available for you to use.
The purpose of this sticky is to explain the "Advanced Search" function because it is much more powerful and is the best choice when researching information.
When you log on to the site a list of options is shown in a line at the top of the page. One option is labelled "Search", use this option (NOT the search box lower down on the right).
After you click on the upper search option, a drop down box appears. At the bottom of this box is a radio button marked "Advanced …

Sbc swap .... brake master ???
Hello everyone ... I’m new here bf my son purchased a 86’ 944 a few years ago and he wanted to go with a sbc, over this past weekend we fired it for the first time, we are going to go with a wildwood or Tilton dual master cylinder, my question is what size masters do you guys go with? I’ve read so much on this and seem to read to much into it and get confused, we took all the existing equipment out so the firewall is blank and it’s a 4 wheel disk car .. any help would be appreciated

Re: Sbc swap .... brake master ???
i went through the ringer trying to sort out my manual brakes. i run a wilwood dual master cylinder setup with 3/4" front and 1" rear master cylinders. full disclaimer, i am not running factory rotors/calipers, im running the lexus ls430 front and rx7 rear setup.
the factory master cylinder bore is 20mm front and 24mm rear, however i have read of replacements being 19/24. referencing my setup, im 3/4", or 19mm front, and 1" or 25.4mm rear, so i have a little larger rear master giving me slightly less rear brake pressure.
with the stock 944 single piston calipers id stick with a 3/4" front and 15/16" rear. this should get you real close.
i would also recommend an aggressive brake pad, with no booster you will have less line pressure, and less clamping force. i run carbotech xp8 pads, these were recommended by carbotech for street and track use.
one other thing id highly recommend is if the car still has power steering to go with a hydroboost setup using factory master cylinder. a well sorted manual brake system will work well, but hydroboost is still far better for a street driven car

Re: Sbc swap .... brake master ???
Thank you very much Sharkey!! I was hoping someone had specific equipment of what they ran/run. I’m trying to get this part done without any trial and error issues.... if that makes sense lol I’ve banged my head long enough reading about brakes .. now I will order the masters this week, again thank you

Re: Sbc swap .... brake master ???
Im running a 1 inch bore I got from Jegs .Its just a Jegs brand master and it works fine .Im also running manual brakes .Master cylinder is mounted with cereal plate adapter from manual . Stock calipers with drilled slotted rotors .Ive got a roller cammed small block with roller rockers and tall valve covers and it barley clears valve cover but works fine no issues . I believe there is a pic on my photos of it .
