HOW TO DO AN ADVANCED SEARCH.
Mon Jul 08, 2013 3:56 pm by Admin
For the benefit of 944Hybrids users there are two search functions available for you to use.
The purpose of this sticky is to explain the "Advanced Search" function because it is much more powerful and is the best choice when researching information.
When you log on to the site a list of options is shown in a line at the top of the page. One option is labelled "Search", use this option (NOT the search box lower down on the right).
After you click on the upper search option, a drop down box appears. At the bottom of this box is a radio button marked "Advanced …

XSchop 1-off V8 install kit -Updated
$1800 shipped to any US-48..... Just PM
Everything needed for a basic swap minus the oil-pan (I suggest getting TPC's) as This kit uses TPC's AC-compatible POWDER-COATED uprights and allows maximum steering rack clearance. The X-member is precision line-bored at the control arms for exact 3/4" drop, relieved at the rack mounts (for max oil-pan clearance) and slotted at the Upright mounts for aft movement. It was then acid washed, primered, and painted . Again, I guarantee your hood will close (with no cutting) even with the taller power steering rack. 3/4" billet X-member spacers and 3/4" longer X-member zinc-plated bolts and washers. 3/4" Sway bar spacers. 3/4" bump-steer tie-rod drop blocks (You will need to get a set of MANUAL rack outer tie-rods...Rock Auto $25/ea). Bolt-on Modded 13/16" Wilwood MC and custom adjustable pushrod adapter (Includes Wilwood accessories). 30" -4an stainless braided line and Wilwood NPT adapter. Brand New Anodized and Pre-Modded C5 throwout bearing with -4an lines included to fit the C5 Bellhousing adapter with TT mounting hardware all included. Your chioice of an LS or LT/SBC pilot bearing adapter and new pilot bearing. I redesigned the 1/4" thick 2000 series alloy brake MC adapter for factory 944 MC and a longer custom adjustable pushrod adapter. It has a seperate billet plate that removes so the larger firewall plate can be re-used for Hydroboost or Dual MC mount later. Kit comes with New construction 4140 custom steering shaft with brand new Borgeson U-joints made for the 3/4" X-member drop. It is adjustable due to the Double D ends. Comes lengthened exactly 1/2" but can be extended or shortened by end-user.....Also included is my new universal billet-polyurethane transmission mount (85.5-up only) that set the drivetrain at factory position or 1/2" back for the V8 swap with swappable set-screws..... And to sweeten the pot, I'm adding in one of my Short Shifters, all Chromoly design with Teflon Heim....

very very nice.
Those look like flaming river steering ends. I tried those and I had a binding issue with them.

Just a thought, if you do not align the top and bottom u-joints properly they will bind. I think, but have not looked recently, that they are 90 degrees apposed.

Re: XSchop 1-off V8 install kit -Updated
If you send me your X-member, I'll knock off another $100. I have another spare X-member that I'll be working on next weekend for the modification. The Factory Steering shaft is clocked 10 degrees and I also clock these joints 10 degrees. Mine is not clocked at all and 1" extension and have no binding.
The Brake adapter I made fits the factory brake master cylinder and I just found out that the BMW 750 master cylinder is a direct fit and is 25mm with 2 bubble-flare ports. So a buble flare T would have to be installed to fit it into the 944 factory hard lines. What's nice is the ports face AWAY from the driver's head....big win

I didn't see (rock auto) where the reservoir was with this unit. Would the original BMW reservoir work and leave hood clearence?
What is the bore size?

Haven't confirmed, but I would bet the 944 reservoir would snap right on.

O.K. I have another complete kit assembled as you see above and am adding in an 11" Clutch Disc. It is the exact design I put in mine that has the hub extending further out for more TT spline engagement and perfectly flat at the flywheel for proper pilot bearing clearance .....I will sell the entire lot for $1650 shipped..... first come first served on this one.....Just PM

I can mfr one in a few weeks if you are installing the Power steering rack which uses the modded/dropped X-member and custom steering shaft. It's unnecessary if you are going to use the Manual rack and drop your X-member 1/4" to 1/2".

Re: XSchop 1-off V8 install kit -Updated
Just got my 944 and already looking at the conversions. Very tempting. Likely not doing mine until summer is over here in South Texas. No a/c in my garage and not looking to die until after the swap is completed.
Will let you know when ready to start my swap though.

I can put together another basic kit minus the modded X-member at this time and will include the new hydroboost mount or 944 MC mount with the kit.. You'll still need a custom oil pan. TPC is the go to on that one and headers also if you cannot mod your own.

OK -- Is it possible to call you or you call me -- I am a nube and have questions -- also how much do you charge for your kit.
Thanks

Xschop, sent you an email on this. Do you have any of the hydroboost mounts available?

Re: XSchop 1-off V8 install kit -Updated
You going to build another one like the last kit any time soon? Whats the difference in your kit and TPC? Would you think about making a kit that has EVERYTHING needed for the swap. I dont want to have to wait for parts or go shopping for a hose or what have you. I just want it all in one kit and get it built. I do t want this to become the project that never gets done because im waiting on a few parts lol.
Re: XSchop 1-off V8 install kit -Updated
i guess if you want all the parts laid out for you, you can either research the forum and gather the data or hire TPC to perform the install for you. There have been several lists put together over the years of parts needed, depending on your swap configuration, so having an all encompassing list is somewhat feasible as long as you define the "it depends" parts, your engine, headers, brakes, lights, gauges, radiator, and on and on. Unless you have a lot of dedicated time, the projects always take time and need a part not in hand, or change orders occur, or creeping elegance, hiring the job done move that issue to the job installer.
Just some random thoughts to consider.
