HOW TO DO AN ADVANCED SEARCH.

Mon Jul 08, 2013 3:56 pm by Admin

For the benefit of 944Hybrids users there are two search functions available for you to use.
The purpose of this sticky is to explain the "Advanced Search" function because it is much more powerful and is the best choice when researching information.

When you log on to the site a list of options is shown in a line at the top of the page. One option is labelled "Search", use this option (NOT the search box lower down on the right).

After you click on the upper search option, a drop down box appears. At the bottom of this box is a radio button marked "Advanced …

Quick introduction:

Starting with a 944 NA non-sunroof coupe. 88k mile car that was purchased as a roller. The car is a little ratty inside, but will be stripped and roll bar/race seats added. I've added cup suspension with torsion bar delete, big reds and solid bushings.

LS1 donor from an '04 GTO. I recently added a cam and valvetrain package.

The project was started back in March, and has been facing some delays due to parts availability and my travel schedule.

Shooting to have the thing running/driving in August.

Intent is to have this primarily set up as a track car - but street legal in order not to have to trailer it. I drive DE in the P'Nwest mostly with PCA and BMWACA.

Thank you to all who have posted helpful information - I've already learned a lot about the conversion process and it's incredibly valuable to have searchable information that's available on this board.

Pictures to follow - although looks as though all the LS + 944 pictures already posted by others on the board pretty much tell the story already.

Thank you,
Dan.

Thankfully this one is not a wagon!

Maybe someone along the way made a wagon-back option for the 944 ala that mid 1980's Nissan Pulsar. There's an obscure niche conversion need out there for someone with too much time, too many groceries and a few 944 donor cars laying around!

I'll just concentrate on the big motor for now...that's a big enough challenge.

Hey Dan,
I just put my '91 S2 on the road 3 weeks ago. LS1 Out of an '01 camaro. These cars are BEASTS!
My motor is stock with RH headers. All and all it took me about three months to do the conversion on a part time schedule. Its well worth it. You are really going to enjoy your ride. I have had many hot rods but none performed like this. The added HP from your GTO mtr is going to be a blast. Definitely post some pics when your done. David

Hi Guys,

Towed the car down to T-Hill this weekend for it's first track day. This was my first time driving at the track, and first track day in the 944.

It was a 2 day event with NCRC - and I can highly recommend that club (affordable, straightforward with no BS and they stayed on time) and the track is fast with lots of elevation changes...just fantastic.

Saturday was dry and 50's all day. Got 5 sessions of 20 min each in a group that allows point-by passing anywhere on the track. It was mostly modified BMWs, Evos and Z-06s - typical street legal track day type cars in the group.

Sunday poured rain and the car was terrifying so I put it on the trailer after the 2nd session. Wheelspin on the straightaways, limited visibility and spooky...I just didn't want to push my luck.

The car is very entertaining and ran great out of the box. I've never driven a 944 at the track and only had about 100 street miles on mine since we got it running. I did zero wrenching on it the whole weekend. It pulls really hard, and only 3rd & 4th gears are necessary because it has so much grunt. It handles great and is very predictable. The brakes don't bite as much as I'd like, so it's either the pads, brake bias (still dialing in more rear as I go) or the MC is just the wrong size. I couldn't get lock-up no matter how hard I pushed the pedal.

Here's a couple laps from the 4th session Saturday.

Woohoo! All that work was worth it.
