HOW TO DO AN ADVANCED SEARCH.

Mon Jul 08, 2013 3:56 pm by Admin

For the benefit of 944Hybrids users there are two search functions available for you to use.
The purpose of this sticky is to explain the "Advanced Search" function because it is much more powerful and is the best choice when researching information.

When you log on to the site a list of options is shown in a line at the top of the page. One option is labelled "Search", use this option (NOT the search box lower down on the right).

After you click on the upper search option, a drop down box appears. At the bottom of this box is a radio button marked "Advanced …

Looking for a simple and cost effective way to plumb my air cleaner to the TB. I want to move the air cleaner to the area just in front of the coolant tank. Thinking light weight, thin walled tubing, maybe stainless or aluminum (maybe even carbon fiber Very Happy ) I've checked out *Bay and C list already.
Any ideas on a supplier?

I bought an intake for another car from a diesel truck shop, the 3" down pipe. worked good but might be heavier than you are thinking

These guys were good and reasonable [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] Pep Boys and other auto part stores sell the Spectre line of intakes, including individual pipes and elbows, etc.

I'm in the process of re-working my intake too.

I think 4" is a little overkill for the intake--not to mention difficult to fit under the hood, which is really the only reason i even mention it. Even if you went to a 90mm TB, 90mm = 3.54" dia. (minus crossbar and blade = ~3.5").

Anyways, 3.5" tubing is really common on ebay in any flavor. If your headlights are still stock, i just ordered an RU-3130 air filter that should fit perfectly in front of the coolant reservoir....i'll report back on that when UPS delivers it tomorrow Smile

The biggest reason i went with 3.5" was because you can't really fit a 4"x4" 90* rubber boot on the TB without removing the hood latch. Then the 3.5" tubing is cutting it close going between the p/s pulley and the headlight bar.

A final option i had considered was filling a garbage bag with expanding foam, laying it where the air intake was going to go, shutting the hood, then whittling down the expanding foam into the shape i wanted and laying some fiberglass over it. Would be a cheap and easy way to end up with a completely custom intake that uses every inch of space under the hood for airflow.

Porch...its a track car...its all over kill!
I've have a cam, LS6 intake, and of course the headers with a very open 3" muffler. BTW, the hood latch is long gone too.

Ah, if you've got no hood latch then you might as well go hog-wild!
I've got about 1' of 4" aluminized steel tubing, but i'm not quite sure if i'm going to need it or not. If you're not in a hurry i'll let you know...
