HOW TO DO AN ADVANCED SEARCH.

Mon Jul 08, 2013 3:56 pm by Admin

For the benefit of 944Hybrids users there are two search functions available for you to use.
The purpose of this sticky is to explain the "Advanced Search" function because it is much more powerful and is the best choice when researching information.

When you log on to the site a list of options is shown in a line at the top of the page. One option is labelled "Search", use this option (NOT the search box lower down on the right).

After you click on the upper search option, a drop down box appears. At the bottom of this box is a radio button marked "Advanced …

Hi everyone I have an L92 out of a 2007 Escalade ESV, not sure if it has DOD but I plan on deleting the VVT and obviously getting an LS3 intake manifold, what else will I have to do to turn this into an LS3 and ready to be dropped into a 944? Will I need to replace the truck waterpump or any of the other accessories on the engine? I want to turn this into a very fun street car. I also read that the valves are different so I plan on tearing the entire engine apart and rebuilding it so if anyone has recommendations for kits or certain pistons, valves, rockers, and camshaft please let me know so I can get started on this swap!

You will have to use all F-body (camaro) accessories on the front of the engine. Truck accessories will not fit in the 944. It's not a DOD engine, but I would definitely replace the VVT cam with a non VVT. Much easier to tune and works way better in your application.

One thing you need to make sure, is that it has the starter mount on the right side of the block. I have been sold Escalade engines that turned out to be hybrid 6 liters and have no starter mount.

I used the same engine for my swap. An 07 Escalade non dod with vvt version. Believe dod was an option for the escalade that year. You can easily check if you have it by looking at the valley cover. I opted to use as is, keeping the stock vvt cam/setup. Car runs great. The truck cam actually behaves very well in this car and is lots of fun with the torque curve. Tunning was not too bad. Used hp tuners to dial in maf and ve table. Started with a stock 08 vette tune as a baseline.

The only difference between the ls3 and l92 long block is the vvt cam, solid valves, and valve springs in the heads.

You will need the f body accessories setup waterpump, ls3 intake, injectors, and dbw throttle body/pedal assembly.

If you decided to keep the vvt, you will instead need the Camaro L99 waterpump and accessory setup as the timing cover is diferent to accommodate the vvt and projects a bit further.
