HOW TO DO AN ADVANCED SEARCH.

Mon Jul 08, 2013 1:56 pm by Admin

For the benefit of 944Hybrids users there are two search functions available for you to use.
The purpose of this sticky is to explain the "Advanced Search" function because it is much more powerful and is the best choice when researching information.

When you log on to the site a list of options is shown in a line at the top of the page. One option is labelled "Search", use this option (NOT the search box lower down on the right).

After you click on the upper search option, a drop down box appears. At the bottom of this box is a radio button marked "Advanced …

I cant remember if the screen looked pulled in like this originally.  I want to make sure when I assemble it all on a new shortblock that it isnt restrictive. I cleaned it off obviously, just nervous about it being an issue. Not exactly easy to get to if it is!

Its best to replace the pickup tube always. the older press in style on the small blocks are more difficult but as cheap as they are its good insurance to just replace. Make sure the oil pump wasnt damaged as well check the pressure relief valve for any contaminates as well. they can jam it closed which isnt to bad just high oil pressure. but if it gets stuck open you will lose pressure at idle. Oil pump and pickup tube should always be replaced in the case of a rod failure. I dont know if you replaced lifters or cleaned the oil galleys but the lifters will fill up with small particles of bearings and steel and will cause them to bid as well. any time you have a rod bearing failure you should always disassemble the whole block and clean all oil passages as well. a cheap 1500psi harbor freight pressure washer works great if you dont have all the proper tools.
